Comments? Helpful tips on how to make it suck less? Questions?

I don't know about suck, but this is what "speaks" to me about being just a little off.
Need the grass to come up around her feet as it does with the trees. Right now it looks as tho she is floating a few inches off the ground.
The other is your light source and shadows. not quite right, but I'm at a loss for the proper words to explain how.
Other than that, I think it is a very nice picture.

You're too right about the grass around her feet. Holy crap, I didn't even realize that.

I'm terrible with shadows and lighting; I will try to figure out what wacky thing I've done with those in this one. But most of my drawings have bizarre and not-quite-right lighting.

Thanks very much for your input!

Is the claw based on Vincent Valentine's hand, or is that just a coincidence.

It's a well drawn claw though, don't get me wrong. Who is this person. Random demon? (It looks like she has horns. They are horns right?) I draw random demons, most notably a bat-person who took up an entire page in my notebook. No notes were actually taken that day.

The shading on the body is good, but she does look like she's floating. The light source seems a little off. There are two sets of shdows around the body, but only one on it.

Thanks for your comments! The claw is not really supposed to be based on Vincent Valentine's, but the statue was right in front of me and was the only reference I had. ^_^ She is not a demon, but a human; the horns are chrome transdermal implants.

I really need to fix that floating thing. I would never have noticed it if people hadn't pointed it out.

The shading is all wrong, but I'm not sure how to fix it. There are two light sources, one from the side, and one from the tree. Too complicated for me! :)

Thanks again!

I'm sorry if I'm staning on toes here. I thought it woud be interesting to see what it would look like to draw two light sources. This is the glow-y tree. It's not the best in the world but I think I've got the areas of shade accurate.

The light from the tree makes a ring around the bottom. It's darker where the light from the side crosses over. The tree itself is darker than I wanted it to be, because it wouldn't show up when I scannned it in otherwise.

I had a go at drawing a person, but it sucked. I think that in your drawing the front of the lady would be mostly shaded with a little bit of light from the side.

Thanks so much for doing that; it makes more sense when I can see it. You may be right, too, about the ring around the bottom of the tree, although the tree isn't supposed to be bright all the way around, just at that one point. But that's very confusing and I probably should have left it out entirely. Normal light sources are hard enough for me anyway. ;)

Well if the light is only at that one point then the shadow should go behind the tree towards the background, not towards the person.

Like so. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v612/lehorin/shading2.jpg)

Thought of a few other things, but it is to late to do so cohearently.

Mostly about your light source.

g'night

Okay, whenever you have the time is fine. ^_^

ok. now your second light source is mostly the culprit. is it a directional light, or just a floating ball of light?if it isn't directional, then just how strong a light is it? also, if it is between the two, it won't cast the tree shadow in the same direction. now the tree trunk. The white part is where the light shines on it? if the light is omnidirectional(floating ball of light), then it will light up the trunk as well as down. how far the light goes in each direction will be directly related to how strong a light it is. so the light needs to fade out at each end as a function of how strong it is. if the light is strong enough, the original shadow will either not show, or be very faint, both for the tree, and your person. still kind of waking up right now, so I hope that made some sense to you.
