Thanks for your comments! The claw is not really supposed to be based on Vincent Valentine's, but the statue was right in front of me and was the only reference I had. ^_^ She is not a demon, but a human; the horns are chrome transdermal implants.

I really need to fix that floating thing. I would never have noticed it if people hadn't pointed it out.

The shading is all wrong, but I'm not sure how to fix it. There are two light sources, one from the side, and one from the tree. Too complicated for me! :)

Thanks again!

I'm sorry if I'm staning on toes here. I thought it woud be interesting to see what it would look like to draw two light sources. This is the glow-y tree. It's not the best in the world but I think I've got the areas of shade accurate.

The light from the tree makes a ring around the bottom. It's darker where the light from the side crosses over. The tree itself is darker than I wanted it to be, because it wouldn't show up when I scannned it in otherwise.

I had a go at drawing a person, but it sucked. I think that in your drawing the front of the lady would be mostly shaded with a little bit of light from the side.

Thanks so much for doing that; it makes more sense when I can see it. You may be right, too, about the ring around the bottom of the tree, although the tree isn't supposed to be bright all the way around, just at that one point. But that's very confusing and I probably should have left it out entirely. Normal light sources are hard enough for me anyway. ;)

Well if the light is only at that one point then the shadow should go behind the tree towards the background, not towards the person.

Like so. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v612/lehorin/shading2.jpg)
