Okay, so color me disappointed. Last night I made a thread on the official 30 Seconds to Mars bulletin board saying that I wasn't over the moon about the new "theatrical" direction the band was going in, with the capes and masks and blood-splattered dancers onm the stage. I said that I was in it for the music, and that the whole big production thing sort of cheapened them. I also said that they sounded absolutely stellar during that particular performance, though, and I said that I was looking forward to going to see some of their future concerts (friday and tuesday, in fact,) where they wouldn't have any of that nonsense. Most people agreed that it seemed like they were trying too hard and were being too "imagey". To my utter surprise, the thread was deleted. Next, someone else made a thread saying, "Hey, what happened to that thread that Jules started when we were discussing the theatrical aspect of the band?" And then THAT thread got deleted. This morning I made another thread saying, "Uhh, WTF, guys? It's just an opinion!" And then THAT thread got deleted.

A few folks on that board tipped me off that it wasn't the mods doing the deleting, but the actual band: 30 Seconds to Mars just can't take posts that aren't entirely complimentary. And as most of you know, deleting anything that's not totally "OMGz I LOVE YOU!!!!!11111" is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. I've never done that in my life, and I've gotten some pretty negative reviews / comments. When you create something, or even when you just say something, like here, you have to expect that someone might not like it. Then you just deal with it, big whoop.

Well, I paid for the tickets, I promised my cousins we'd go and have a great time, and I still fully intend to. That'll be Friday. I also stupidly made some trinkets to bring along for the guys (because they usually stay after a show to chat with the folks who came to see them. They don't get paid extra for that, yo.) I spent a lot of time on that, and a lot of time trying to get the tickets and stuff. Then I also have tickets for their Halloween show, which is going to also be a costume party. (Nothing I love more than a costume party!) That's in Philly and again I already got my tickets and even my train tickets and a hotel reservation. I kind of wish now that I had saved that money (and time,) but it's done, so I'm determined to go there and just have a good time. I'll even take a ton of pictures and post them here.

Then I'll just come home and go back to my love affair with Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and Lo Fidelity Allstars. (I'd so go and see a concert by any of those musicians in a second!) That and my Hawaiian and other non-American mainstream music. I do have 30 Seconds to Mars to thank for a whole summer of great music and fun concerts and the wild ticket-chase and all of that stuff, but that whole "worship us or get deleted" junk is so not for me.

In other news, today was the work birthday party for Nancy, Nancy, myself and Pat. (Although Pat's birthday is Thursday and Nancy's is tomorrow, and Nancy wasn't here today anyway.) I brought in leftover sandwiches from this weekend. And Michelle made an absolutely orgasmic chocolate cake for us. It was THE BOMB. Also Brittany, Jenn J. and I decided to have like a once a week Non-Creepy-Backrub day. That probably won't last, but it was fun for today. ^_^

ETA: Holy inundated inbox, Batman! From anyone coming over from the 30STM board (dude, I posted this like ten minutes ago!) first of all, THANK YOU. I will really miss the, uhh, colorful Echelon, and the flavorful people on that board. Please do feel free to stay in touch. This is nothing personal and it's not a big deal. I just admire artists who can accept that not everyone's going to be orgasmic over every little move they make, and I lose admiration (and thus can't promote) artists that get their panties in a wad when they're not worshipped universally. Eees all, okee? No big. ^_^

ETA the 2nd: OH MY GOD. I've decided not to post on a bulletin board, I'm not leaving the planet. ^_~ It's just a matter of, I make it a point not to post on boards where opinions have to be approved. I don't conduct my own LJ like that or any of my web spaces, I've never turned down any kind of comments on any of my creations, good or bad (everything helps you grow,) and it's just against my mana'o. I am still existing. You can hit me up here or in email. Oh, and this LJ accepts anonymous comments, too, so if you don've have LJ, you can still post a comment. Good or bad. I won't delete it. ;D

Thank you so much! *added back* Yeah, I so hope that it didn't stir up a crapstorm when I posted my contact info; I just wanted to keep in touch with some people. Yep, I'm disappointed, but no big. :)

Well, there are 35 posts in response to yours...mostly people asking what happened. I hope you have fun at the shows you're going to.

I guess that counts as a crapstorm? Ah well, not my intention. I am surprised if that thread is still there, though. Wowie.

I'm sure I will have fun at those concerts, because hey! Trip into the city (and into Philly,) Halloween show; I can pretend it's just a party. ^_^ And probably will.

Say, you mention Vanessa on your LJ. Does she have one? I thought she was pretty cool, too.

She does... I would give it to you right now but I don't know if she just hands it out or what.

I wish I could go to the blood ball. you're lucky. If I would have stayed back home and not gone to grad school I could have gone to the denver one. Oh well. c'est la vie...right? I keep telling myself that. doesn't make me less jealous of those that get to go. I see them in South Carolina on the 3rd though, so that's cool.

No worries about Vanessa; that's cool. I'm just all out and about with my LJ. I say stuff and I don't care who knows. ;D

Up until today I had my pee in a dazzle hoping that the Halloween one would be the costume ball (just can't bring myself to use the phrase "blood ball", something about it sounds obscene. ;D ) But now I'm just disappointed and I'd give away my tickets if I hadn't already made all these plans and been looking forward to it for so long. I am DETERMINED to have some sort of fun, just listen to the music from the back of the room and pretend like none of this stuff went on. ^_~

Hurrah for you on grad school, dude. That's awesome. Also, you're going to have a blast on the 3rd, blood or no blood. ;)

I am not a 30STM fan but I feel your disappointment, especially after reading all the excitement in your entries all summer. Sucks, but as you say, there are thousands of good bands out there who don't try to control what their fans say on message boards. If all else fails, join the Snape fandom (read up on your f_w lately?), he seems to be a fun chap.

By the way, I'm not a stalker. I just changed my lj from dalinae to danchobeliata to mark a new, European, chapter in my life. :-)

P.S. Belated Happy Birthday!

Oh, hi there! ^_^ Should I re-friend?

Gawd, I did read the F_W entry. Holy crap, talk about screwballs. Makes Winter Rose and--dare I say--Link's Queen look a bit tame. O_o

Yeah, it does suck, because their entire philosophy of no fear and "walk into the sight of the gun" (jeez, my favorite song!) seems false now. The whole "delete stuff that is M34n!!11" (which it honestly wasn't, by the way--I did say they sounded amazing, because they did,) seems so "13 year old fanfic writer" and not "mature, ridiculously intelligent artists" as I had thought.

But hey! I'm still going to those concerts, even though it won't exactly feel the same. In the first one, I'll be with my two cousins who know nothing about this and they will have an awesome time. And for the second one, I'll get to see a bit of Philly, which I've never done before. ^_^

Ok, Wow.
Not much else can escape but that. Terrible when an idol turns out to be way too human, and rather immature to boot.

And Happy Birthday!(one)

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Oh, I always saw the guys as human and never got into the "idol" thing, and they've always seemed very human to me, actually very down to earth from what I've been told. From the stuff they said in their music though, it seemed that they stood for something, which happened to be a something that I believed in very much. So I felt like I could relate to that, you know: fear nothing, do your own thing, screw anyone who doesn't like it! But somehow "Censor everyone who doesn't agree" doesn't seem to fit in with that philosophy. ;)

Lmao, I was not expecting Link's Queen to have formed her own band. At least they didn't give an admonishing post ALL IN CAPS, and no tigers were harmed in the deleting of your thread. ;)

Happy B-day and I hope you still have a blast at their stuff.

Hahaa! "DOn'T LIKE DON'T WATCH!!!!!!"
