Well, that's kind of a let-down...

Okay, so color me disappointed. Last night I made a thread on the official 30 Seconds to Mars bulletin board saying that I wasn't over the moon about the new "theatrical" direction the band was going in, with the capes and masks and blood-splattered dancers onm the stage. I said that I was in it for the music, and that the whole big production thing sort of cheapened them. I also said that they sounded absolutely stellar during that particular performance, though, and I said that I was looking forward to going to see some of their future concerts (friday and tuesday, in fact,) where they wouldn't have any of that nonsense. Most people agreed that it seemed like they were trying too hard and were being too "imagey". To my utter surprise, the thread was deleted. Next, someone else made a thread saying, "Hey, what happened to that thread that Jules started when we were discussing the theatrical aspect of the band?" And then THAT thread got deleted. This morning I made another thread saying, "Uhh, WTF, guys? It's just an opinion!" And then THAT thread got deleted.
A few folks on that board tipped me off that it wasn't the mods doing the deleting, but the actual band: 30 Seconds to Mars just can't take posts that aren't entirely complimentary. And as most of you know, deleting anything that's not totally "OMGz I LOVE YOU!!!!!11111" is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. I've never done that in my life, and I've gotten some pretty negative reviews / comments. When you create something, or even when you just say something, like here, you have to expect that someone might not like it. Then you just deal with it, big whoop.
Well, I paid for the tickets, I promised my cousins we'd go and have a great time, and I still fully intend to. That'll be Friday. I also stupidly made some trinkets to bring along for the guys (because they usually stay after a show to chat with the folks who came to see them. They don't get paid extra for that, yo.) I spent a lot of time on that, and a lot of time trying to get the tickets and stuff. Then I also have tickets for their Halloween show, which is going to also be a costume party. (Nothing I love more than a costume party!) That's in Philly and again I already got my tickets and even my train tickets and a hotel reservation. I kind of wish now that I had saved that money (and time,) but it's done, so I'm determined to go there and just have a good time. I'll even take a ton of pictures and post them here.
Then I'll just come home and go back to my love affair with Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and Lo Fidelity Allstars. (I'd so go and see a concert by any of those musicians in a second!) That and my Hawaiian and other non-American mainstream music. I do have 30 Seconds to Mars to thank for a whole summer of great music and fun concerts and the wild ticket-chase and all of that stuff, but that whole "worship us or get deleted" junk is so not for me.
In other news, today was the work birthday party for Nancy, Nancy, myself and Pat. (Although Pat's birthday is Thursday and Nancy's is tomorrow, and Nancy wasn't here today anyway.) I brought in leftover sandwiches from this weekend. And Michelle made an absolutely orgasmic chocolate cake for us. It was THE BOMB. Also Brittany, Jenn J. and I decided to have like a once a week Non-Creepy-Backrub day. That probably won't last, but it was fun for today. ^_^
ETA: Holy inundated inbox, Batman! From anyone coming over from the 30STM board (dude, I posted this like ten minutes ago!) first of all, THANK YOU. I will really miss the, uhh, colorful Echelon, and the flavorful people on that board. Please do feel free to stay in touch. This is nothing personal and it's not a big deal. I just admire artists who can accept that not everyone's going to be orgasmic over every little move they make, and I lose admiration (and thus can't promote) artists that get their panties in a wad when they're not worshipped universally. Eees all, okee? No big. ^_^
ETA the 2nd: OH MY GOD. I've decided not to post on a bulletin board, I'm not leaving the planet. ^_~ It's just a matter of, I make it a point not to post on boards where opinions have to be approved. I don't conduct my own LJ like that or any of my web spaces, I've never turned down any kind of comments on any of my creations, good or bad (everything helps you grow,) and it's just against my mana'o. I am still existing. You can hit me up here or in email. Oh, and this LJ accepts anonymous comments, too, so if you don've have LJ, you can still post a comment. Good or bad. I won't delete it. ;D
