Mild spoilers, nothing you can't figure out for yourself.

Hmmm.

I just think that Klaatu should realize that there is a HUGE difference between "seeing the good side" to a person (or the entire human race) and actually believing that they will change. Everyone says they can change when it's about to end, and maybe they change for a little while until they think the threat is over, but you can't change what is fundamentally there, you just can't.

And seriously, if all Helen had to do was prove to Klaatu that humans had a good side and weren't merely destructive, let's forget about the whole "Oh I miss my dead husband and love my stepkid, watch us mourn together" thing, and instead just have sex with him. I mean if he was moved simply by witnessing something as trite as a cemetery scene, why not just skip over all the syrupy stuff and just bang? He was like, "There is another side to you. I see that now." No, all you saw was that humans are afraid of death, and you obviously already knew that what with the "please don't kill us" thing.

If anyone did the "another side to humans" convincing it was that Chinese dude and John Cleese, and they didn't have sex with him, so.

Helen should have hit that with the fist of an angry god. I mean, first, before doing anything else. Before even trying to reason with him or beg. "That's another side to us humans. Now have some Gatorade and call off your little silver bugs."

That's what I would do. If an alien came down saying he had to destroy humans to save the planet, but maybe not if only he could find something decent about the human experience, and he was all Keanu Reeves looking, I would do that.

I would so do that to save the human race.

The acting was okay, I love John Cleese. The kid was hella frigging annoying, I wanted to slap him out of the script the entire time. jennifer Connelly's always pretty decent and Keanu is, you know, Keanu. He's hit or miss for me and he didn't really have a hell of a lot to do in this film.

One of the best things was that I saw a commercial for The new Resident Evil movie with Leon in it! I nearly screamed! Now on Amazon it says the release date is 12/27, but everywhere else it says the 30th. WTF?! Goddamnit, I want my beautifully rendered, badly scripted fanservice NOW thank you!

Oh, and also this which has nothing to do with the movie:

In 2009, kapunua resolves to...
Connect with my inner broadsword.
Drink four glasses of fanfiction every day.
Lose ten human rights by March.
Start a pele fund.
Give some american indians to charity.
Admit my true feelings to skitty_kitty.
Get your own New Year's Resolutions:

Well, we've already lost lots of human rights over the last eight years; I hope to gain some back instead! And I'm not sure about connecting with a broadsword of any kind. I really will try to drink more fanfiction, I'm sure I won't be givine Native American's to charity (what an American way of thinking! >_<) I wouldn't mind starting a Pele fund, and [livejournal.com profile] skitty_kitty already knows my true feelings: That we are some sort of cosmic twins!

This is the year-end meme thingie that's going around LJ. I like this one a lot. Feel free to pass it on!

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?

I almost wanna say the thing about college, but I have applied for and been accepted to college before. Just not this college. Umm, let's see. Sent out an entire manuscript. Got fired! Oh, I know! I got my godson!

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't really make resolutions. If I feel like I need to make a change, I don't wait until a certain arbitrary day to do it. I guess I don't rely on things like the new year to inspire me.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Well my cousin didn't give birth, but she did get her baby. :)

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My good friend's mother passed away on Thursday. I didn't know her though.

5. What countries did you visit?
None, yet!

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A book deal! I say that every year, don't I? My blue belt. A hot guy.

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I suppose that will be May 11th, when I lost my job. I thought at first I would be so upset, but instead there was nothing but the feelings of freedom and happiness.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably making the decision to go to this college and go down this road. I don't think that getting accepted was as big an achievement for me as the decision itself. Decisions freak me out.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting published, I think. Well, that's what it feels like.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I got mad sick in October, sicker than I've ever been. I don't want to do that again in a hurry.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
That's tough. I'm gonna have to say the best thing I bought was tickets to the TBS concert last May. Mom, Jo-chan and I all went together. The concert was awesome and we had a great time together.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
I'm going to have to copy [livejournal.com profile] lehorin and say "everyone who voted for Obama." I add to this the fact that some people in my family had been Republicans, but still voted for Obama because they wanted to do the right thing.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Sarah Palin and her ilk. She brought to light how ignorant so much of this country still is. Also, a band I used to like continued to depress me, but that's small beans.

14. Where did most of your money go?
That one's easy: a loan for college.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
So many things! Well, to start with, The Boychild coming home, although technically that happened within the last few days of '07. Obviously going back to school has me peeing my pants in a constant unending stream. And I was, and am, totally excited and inspired by Obama winning the election.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
I'm not sure exactly which song, but probably something by Muse.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? So much happier it almost defies definition.
ii. thinner or fatter? I was mad thin when I got sick but that didn't last long. I'm about the same as I was last year: 135
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer by far.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing, but I say that every damn year.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worrying. I waste a lot of good time worrying about things I can't control.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With family, like always. I'm going to ask my uncle to bring his Wii and his RE4 so I can watch him play. I suspect there's no one better and that's kind of inspiring. We mostly all do the same thing every year, but it is stuff that I love doing, which is just hanging out, laughing, playing video games, opening gifts and eating. And this year, watching the Boychild run around like a small crazy person.

22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
No, but I had tons of crushes and flirtations and that kind of thing.

23. How many one-night stands?
None, that's not my style.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
House, as usual. Although I did get back into The X Files and watching them on DVD. And recently I got into Family Guy.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yeah, I actually do, which is weird for me because usually I'm such a mellow kinda gal. I hate ex boss Dr. Douche. I've always disliked him, but now I actively hate him and wish bad things to go his way.

26. What was the best book you read?
The Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Going to have to go with MUSE on that one.

28. What did you want and get?
Change. A really big change.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Iron Man, by a mile.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 36, and I bake a pie and cleaned the house.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Hot guy? Or maybe to see the look on Dr. Douche's face after a few events happened.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
"The Assassin." Heh. But that's only when I was going out. Normally I just wear whatever is comfortable for the season.

34. What kept you sane?
I don't really have a problem staying sane, to be honest. O_o Probably a good balance of chemicals in my brain keeps me sane.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Obama. I found him very inspiring. But if "fancy" means "ooooh he's hot / delish eye candy," then maybe Robert Downey Jr. this year.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election for sure. There are issues that area always getting me going, like the environment, human rights and the seperation of church and state, but those are for every year.

37. Who did you miss?
Some friends who either moved away or who I just don't see anymore. Also, I still miss Trisky.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I would say my godson, but technically I "met" him in '07. Well, I met some friends that I'd been talking to on the internet, and we spent a day in Disneyworld. So that was pretty awesome. :)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
I would love to say that I learned that you can't fight everyone else's battles and that you can't expect people to have your back, and that sometimes you have to just let injustice go, suck it up and STFU, but I would be lying because I didn't actually learn that and probably never will. I could say that I learned that you reap what you sow, but I already knew that. Maybe I learned that it's never too late to start over. I think logically I knew that but somehow felt it applied to other people and not me. So I guess I can say that I learned that I can start over.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Change everything you are
And everything you were
Your number has been called

Fights and battles have begun
Revenge will surely come
Your hard times are ahead

Best, you've got to be the best
You've got to change the world
And use this chance to be heard
Your time is now

Don’t let yourself down
And don’t let yourself go
Your last chance has arrived

Next, take the first line out of the first post of each month and post them with the month and no explanations.

January - Obama wins Iowa. ^_____^
February - So last night Kim came over with my Xmas gift.
March - With some exceptions, this weekend was pretty awesome.
April - Wrote this part last night: Wednesday already. That's two more days till Friday. >_<
May - I can't say enough about last night's concert. But those of you who know me, know that I will try anyway. ^_^
June - Yesterday I was supposed to do a show in Northport, but there were reports of such severe weather that the lady who had sub-contracted me (a Hula sister of mine who has her own halau out west,) called me and said that she and one of her dancers would go instead.
July - Jo-chan is here, and tonight I gave her the last Growing UP Girl statue ever.
August - I lay awake in my bed most of the night, jumped up on caffeine, totally ODing on it, feeling like a panic attack without any panic at all, but just tons of ideas, images, few words but not really dreams.
September - Yesterday my wonderful friend Kim and I went to the Shinnecock Powwow like we try to do every year.
October - The O'Reilly Factor in a minute.
November - Halloween was pretty sweet.
December - I got my tree today, hurray!

So anyways, last night I went to a party in Westhampton Beach with sme family members. My cousins work there and they invited us. It was really nice, mellow, and the two bartenders were ridiculously cute and I made naughty eyes at both of them all night. Obligingly, they returned the favor, but that's just wat bartenders do. Oh, and I straightened my hair, which was weird.

Anyway, pics from last night, clickety )

Jack Black is kinda growing on me. Not even really since Tropic Thunder, but since I saw him getting his start on an old X Files episode. Haha! Anyway, when I watched this at [livejournal.com profile] flamingchords's LJ, I had to steal it. It's PROPOSITION 8, THE MUSICAL! Makes a lot of obvious points very humorously, and I thought Jack Black was a funny and charismatic Jesus.

See more Jack Black videos at Funny or Die

And my interests collage! Which is way too huge to not have behind a cut. I have a lot of interests. )

I am trying to make Christmas my bitch this year. I've got almost all of my gifts, although I'm still missing a few, and others haven't shipped yet. Then, I am making some of my gifts this year, too. We'll only have to wait and see how that works out. :/ It's a great season: all my friends and family seem to be cheerful, a cute boy flirts with me, the weather is December cold but not eyeball-freezing, my tree is really nice, and I have college to look forward to afterwards. ^_^

Note to self when ordering awesome Chinese clothes: Not only are you five nine and anything with a side slit will go up to your ass, but you actually have an ass, along with a pretty sweet rack that Chinese manufacturers don't often factor into their clothing. Therefore if the waist fits, you will neither be able to get it up over your hips or button it across your boobs. KEEP IT IN MIND. And their sleeves are short, too.

I got my tree today, hurray! Note to next year's self: Trees have gotten superfly expensive! Don't bother with the closest ones. Don't go to the creepy privately owned place; their teeniest Charlie Brown tree is $55. The other place, the one you went ot in '07, was closed this afternoon. Landscape Adventure has nice trees for good prices! This year's one is pretty tall and was only $38.

So now the whole inside is done. Tree is up and decorated (yes, two strands of the LED lights are enough to go around a reasonably sized tree,) and all the indoor stuff is up, even the damn kitchen lights. Tonight is Kung Fu, and then tomorrow I will do the outside stuff and start getting my cards out.

And my shopping is almost done! I still need something for Boychild, and a few other people, but I did a lot of it on Amazon. Maybe about half. And nothing I've ordered--not even the stuff I ordered for myself for the holiday season before TG (like BPAL and some clothes,) has arrived yet. >_<

I kinda failed at the holidays last year, because the holidays were really hard. But this year, I am going to just OWN them. ;)

Yoinked from [livejournal.com profile] spatterdash, a song meme. Put your player on shuffle and take the first line of the first thirty songs. She did twenty, but I did thirty because I was having so much fun (and because I like the number better. ;D ) Then make a poem out of the lines. Mine went in the order I got them; I didn't cheat! You can format them to read like poetry if you want. Oh, and the first line is the title. Here was mine:

As black as the night can get

I miss the part when we were moving forward now
sign of the times
again the burden of losing rests upon my shoulders

humidity's rising, barometer's getting low
September never stays this cold where I come from,
scraping the skylines with hypnotic observations:
brutal, beautiful, strung out
Out on the street, I'm stalking the night

I've heard there was a secret chord
beating with life, you promised life

Savoy, the home of sweet romance

I see the way that the sun spits in your face -
So this is what we're up against.

If travel is searching, and home what's been found:
"O ka malu hulu o lele..."

She said, Don't
spin me round, roll me over,
love me cancerously -
gummed up, brain dead and can't decide.

They call me "The Wild Rose"
"E auhea wale ana 'oe?"
Well it ain't nobody's business what I do.
(Kung Fu do what you do to me...)

Hello, I've waited here for you everlong
"Tiare, oe no te tama maho'i e,"
"im nin alu,"
I'm gonna leave you, baby, standing on your own
(I thnk I'm drowning, asphixiated,)
See that smile, see that smile, see that smile on your face.

Neat!

Jo-chan is here, and tonight I gave her the last Growing UP Girl statue ever. I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but I've gotten her one of those statues at her birthday every year, from infancy till now. They only go up to sixteen. In the last few years I'd by one and go, "Wow, only three more to go." "Oh man. Only two more to go." "Holy crap. One more statue after this." Then last week, I bought the last one. It made me really emo.

Chris, Tim and Boychild, as well as Gran all were at my parents' house and we went up there for cake. I still owe Jo-chan a cool gift, because when I took her shopping today they didn't have what she wanted. But it was cool to get together to celebrate her 16th. Afterwards we played FFVII for a few hours because we were both feeling nostalgic for it.

I'm sorry if this is really disjointed. I'm super tired, and also I sort of pieced this LJ entry together over the last few days. It reads a little bit disconnected; sorry about that.

And now for a cute test and some news articles that caught my eye in the last few days:

Here's what I was just thinking about. And only people who are FFVII total fanpoodles and also conspiracy theorists will get.

In FFVII, the government was sucking all of the life out of the planet and destroying it, to the point where all life was threatened.

The government blew up a section of the city, killing thousands of people, and framed a terrorist group.

And now, you can hear the Earth's cries from space. "Can You Hear The Cry Of The Planet" anyone?

So it seems to me that FFVII is coming true.

Anyway, here is the entire article, for when it gets taken down: )

You can actually hear it here.

Aside from the rather benign reason for the sound of the planet, yup, FFVII is coming true. Now if Reeve would walk in! ^_~

Well! I think it's time for me to crawl off to bed. Why the hell am I so tired at 1 AM? I don't even know.

So check out some of the dreams i've been having. One of them I would like to prove that I had actually last week because of the timing (damn I'm good,) but the only way to prove that on here would be to link to my friend's private blog where I posted it last week and that's the last thing I want to do, so you'll just have to take my word.

Here's the one i had two nights ago: Ninja Balls: )

Here's the one I had last week: Adam Lazzara at a baby shower:  )

The madness of this is that the news just came out last night that Adam got married yesterday and his wife is pregnant. O_O However I doubt it will be a vampire baby.

Right and here is my philosophy quiz result: Existentialism )

Yup, Kung Fu was hardcore tonight, spinning binh choys and steal step punches combined with spinning binh choys, then spinning back kicks (one of my favorite kicks ever!) until we could hardly stand up. Then Raq leading blackbelt warmup with like thousands of side crunches and pushups and then our usual situps. I'm getting better pushups and hey guess what? I actually went to the floor with my straddle split tonight. It was only for about four seconds then I had to crawl up, but I got there. Then we went outside for staff. It was just me, Raq, Tracy and his daughter Ashlyn doing staff form in the misty rain. 'Twas lovely.

I've got at least 20 people coming over this Sunday for the Kung Fu pool party, many of which I don't even know. That promises to be super fun. Only thing is I'm working the next two days, a ten hour shift and a nine hour shift, then early Tai Chi and Hula practice Saturday (unless I decide not to go) which leaves Saturday and ONLY Saturday to: get all the shopping done, including The Big Sandwich, clean the house, clean the yard, set up the torches, set up the music, dye my hair, clean all the birds' cages, get at least Adam into the aviary, re-cage the fledging starlings with Gerard, finish my laundry, OMG it never ends.

In the meantime, here is my favorite song meme. Open your music player of choice, hit shuffle, pick the first 20 songs and add the words "in my pants" to the title. (Or, alternately, "in my ass" if you want to be vulgar about it, but traditionally it is "in my pants" so that's what I'm going with.)

1) Set Phasers To Stun in my pants (Fire it up!)

2) I Who Have Nothing in my pants (Absolutely nothing.)

3) Vampires Will Never Hurt You in my pants (You'll be safe here!)

4) I'll Let You Live in my pants (For a small fee.)

5) Wake The Dead in my pants (Please?)

6) Sometimes I Just Go For It in my pants (Who doesn't?)

7) Cattleprod in my pants (Ouch!)

8) Find A Way in my pants (Oh, stop!)

9) Sleep in my pants (Too tired to change into pajamas.)

10) Caldonia in my pants (What makes your big head so hard?)

11) Dynamite! in my pants (BANG!)

12) Battle of One in my pants (Man, shut up.)

13) My Blue Heaven in my pants (It's BLUE.)

14) The Ghost Of You in my pants (It's haunted!)

15) Jive At Five in my pants (Everyone's invited!)

16) I Don't Love You in my pants (Please get out of them.)

17) Clint Eastwood in my pants (He felt lucky.)

18) Somebody Needs You in my pants (I'm not gonna mention any names.)

19) I'm Not Okay in my pants (I'd much rather be wearing shorts.)

20) Welcome To The Black Parade in my pants (I hope you have a good viewing spot!)

It's not bad, really, at least with pain. THere's no pain at all involved inany of this, not since Thursday. That was the worst of it, and it was bearable.. There are times in the day when I see perfectly clearly, and other times when it's really blurry. I jsut got back from the doc's and he said that was normal, the blurriness is just the dryness--he stained my eyes and saw a lot of dry patches on it--so I have to practically live on artificial tears for a while. (Can youg et addicted to those? I hjope not. I can't spend my life putting drops in my eyes every hour.) :/ What really seems to give me the most problem is the computer screen, which had also better fix itself sometime soon, I would like to continue to be a hack writer, thanks very much. He also said I could return to work on the condition that I dind't touch my eyes at any time, didn't get any hairs in them, any chemicals, didn't get scratched, and used the drops as often as possible. (He gave me a note, too, which is really for SITF, because I'm sure the folks at my regular workplace know me welll enough to know that I"m not ditching. I just started this other job so I thought it would be a good thing, just in case.) I figure I can manage that much but I still have to have Mom drive me because I can't see well enough to drive yet. Additionally she's taking me to Kung Fu tonight Dad took me ther eon Monday--I could go on the condition that Sifu didn't burn any incense or have any heat or air conditioning on. Dad actually had a great time there, watching the class. He got to chatting with Sifu while we were doign warmups and he told Sifu that he thought I really loved Kung Fu. SIfu said, "Well, she's great at it." Which made my night. Though there was one part of the night where we were doing arm-bars and throws, and I was supposed to try to push Jess down. I leaned out to shove her shoulder and I missed by a mile. It was hilarious. A little alarming, but hilarious. We'll see how it goes tonight.

I warn you this will be another really disjointed entry, because I still can't lookat the screen enough to go back and edite things. SOrry about that. Also, I again apologize for what promises to be tons of typos. THose of you who know me know that I normally don't write like I have in the last few entires. Once I can look at the screen for a long er time, it will get better.

Oh, and I got bored, part one )

That's how it looked before I washed it. The hairdresser took about twenty minutes straightning it out and floofening it up. Why do people have to straighten my hair? There's no way I'll have the time to do it myself. And I had to sit with my eyes closed the entire time because of the dryer. Anyway, of course I had to wash it so it didn't stay looking like that. )

The streakies are cool, huh? Basically I told the hairdresser, "Do whatever it takes to take the focus off my face and put it on my hair instead." But I knew I wanted the streakies. I asked her speifically to cut it asymmetrically. I said, "See how my face is kind of all crooked..." and here she interrupted me to say, "Yeah, but one your eyes heal you can go back to wearing makeup," which just made me laugh because even the best makeup can't alter the structure of your fae. I told her, "Just go crazy, do whatever. Get the attention off my face." Hopefully that worked.

There is a part to to "I got bored" but I'll ahve to upload those photos later if I can.

I finished two really great books on tape. I ahve to say, Mario Puzo's Omerta was fantastic, who didn't fall in love with Astorre Viola? :) It made me want to go to Italy and I think I will next year.

What I really want to do--and I'll have to do this in installments throughout the night--is write about the last few days, what Iv'e done and the hilarious dreams I've been having. I actually woke up laughing this morning, it was so funny. It started out as a nightmare and then it just got weird.

The first one was a recurring theme, I call it THe Absent Bridegroom. I've had this sort of dream at least once a year since I hit around 27 years old, always under different circumstances, but the main point is the same: I'm getting married, and there's bo groom. I'm at the wedding,k have a dress and everything, and I have no idea who the groom is, or if he's even going to show up. This latest one was actually a good dream, though, I had fun in it.

The Absent Bridegroom and the Springy Rug. )

I woke up totally gleeful.

Last night's dream started out as a nightmare, but ended up as a comedy. Actually it's still funny and I still m giggling everytime I think of it. OH, DEAR! ) It woke me from a sound sleep, and I woke up with my face in the pillow, laughing my fool head off. OH, DEAR! ^_^ That's still funny to me.

Okay, so i started this entry before Kung Fu. I had my Mom drive me there tonight which was very nice of her. We did stance training and then arm-bars and joint locks in basics. Then our hardcore blackbelt warmup and then we went into arm-bars and throws, with wrist locking. I specifically asked to be paired with Chris because I think if you keep getting paired with the same person over and over again you stop growing.. Also it's reallly fun to work with Chris, he challenges me. My Mom reallly enjoyed watching the class, just like Dad did. Me, I'm jus tso glad to get back to it. A week off, and the situps are not giving me a problem at all, we do 60 weighted situps and then some le lifts. (Though yesterday it was 60 waighted leg lifts then 20 unweighted.) I will never be one of those people whi gets addicted to working out, but I sure do love3 it, and I need a cergtain amount of it in the week.

Work tomorrow, and I'm glad, cause I miss it. At least, I miss my friends and I'm out of books on tape (will have to get more, I think, if Mom can drive me to the library again sometime.

cute quizzes. I think. I don't remember taking them. )

I wish I was more excited about next Friday's show than I actually am. From this angle it looks like Jo-chan and I will drive over an hour; battle a hellish parking lot; wait on line to get into a huge, hateful venue; try to find a good viewing spot and fail spectacularly; then wait around listening to bands we don't know until our band comes on (probably late) and then we will struggle to see a glimpse of them for fifty minutes before leaving the hateful venue in a mad rush; looking to find our boys to say hello and then failing that spectacularly; and then driving home. Me, a pessimist? Why, never. The truth is that I halfway wish they'd cancel this show for some reason, this way they'd be honor-bound to come back a few months later at a smaller venue. ;D I'm selfish that way. And honestly I'm more excited that I get to have some time with Jo-chan. I just hope that during that concert there is a moment like the last time when we're both singing and dancing around like idiots to our favorite songs.

So here we are getting hit by a late winter frigging nor'easter, ice this time instead of snow. Four inches of sleet on the ground, you walk through it and it's like walking through slippery dust. Brit left for Hawai'i today; I hope that her flight wasn't delayed and that by now she's in sunny California on her way to sunnier Hawai'i. Still, work today was fun and it flew by, as Fridays do tend to do. We had Non-creepy Backrub Day as well as Haiku Friday ("Jennel would do House / In a vat of putrid slime / don't think she wouldn't!" by me, and from Casse: "Men are just stupid / They should all be kicked by us / or a slap will do.") Because the sleet was "falling from the sky like crotchless panties" as Jennel put it, I wanted to leave a few minutes early and try to skirt 105, which freezes like a beeotch. I couldn't though, because I stopped on my way out to go to the bathroom and, hilariously, got locked in for fifteen minutes after the locking mechanism broke, I kid you effing not. Picture it: me in the bathroom, trying to kick the doorknob off as Casse tried to hammer it off from the outside; me giggling like a fool and Jennel slipping pictures of Jared Leto under the door to keep me company. Finally I asked Casse to slip a sharp knife under the door. I told her it was so that I could slit my own throat in panic and despair, but then I just used it to take the screws out of the doorknob. Casse and I both pulled, and off came the doorknob. I came stumbling out all dramatic talking about how I'd begun to run out of supplies and was about to eat my own foot. Then I went home with my renewed appreciation for freedom. Kelly said she was glad it was me who got stuck in the bathroom, because anyone else might not have taken it so well. I thought, How could you not? It's just completely priceless.

Hula is canceled tomorrow and my guess is that Tai Chi is, too, because the roads are treacherous and this nonsense is not expected to let up overnight. So tonight I'm going to try to finish the chapter I began last night, which I left off with a parenthetical note to self: "KRIS IS SO EFFING 8TH HOUSE AND I LOVE HIM FOR IT!! CONTINUE!" and then I'm going to go to bed and sleep till ten AM tomorrow, while visions of book deals dance in my head.

But before I sign off, a quick pre-springtime meme. You guys all know this one. Open your fave media player, shuffle your songs, take the first twenty adn add the phrase "in my pants" after the title.

1) Surfer Girl in my pants. (The only surfer girl in my pants is ME.)

2) I'm Not That Girl in my pants. (Apparently I'm having an identity crisis in my pants.)

3) Down In The Dark in my pants. (Well it's not as if I backlight it or anything.)

4) Kui Tree in my pants. (Is that a euphamism?)

5) Happy Valley in my pants. (*Dies*)

6) Marooned in my pants. (GET ME OUT!)

7) Spring In The Tibetan Grassland in my pants. (Okay, what's with all the references to trees and grass? >_> )

8) Could You Be Loved in my pants. (Could you?)

9) Virtual Insanity in my pants. (Not actual insanity, though.)

10) Nearly Lost You in my pants. (Well, the Kung Fu pants are kinda big, so I could understand it if I was wearing those.)

11) 4th of July in my pants. (Fireworks!)

12) I Don't Have Anything in my pants. (Nope, nothing.)

13) Into the Void in my pants. (Because I Don't Have Anything.)

14) Will I Get Out Of Jail in my pants? (Or will I have to leave them behind?)

15) Kool Roc Bass in my pants. (It keeps the neighbors awake, actually.)

16) Welcome To The Universe in my pants. (No void, but an entire universe!)

17) Radioactive in my pants. (IT GLOWS.)

18) Only Time in my pants. (I'm starting to think there's a physics class going on in my pants.)

19) El Ritmo Tropical in my pants. (Join the fun!)

20) Nessun Dorma in my pants (NONE SHALL SLEEP!)

In other news, I might expand the definition of that new writing comm to allow discussions about common problems in writing, issues, questions, advice, links etc. But I'd like to keep it mainly for story dissection purposes. Any thoughts?

I am:
Hal Clement (Harry C. Stubbs)
A quiet and underrated master of "hard science" fiction who, among other things, foresaw integrated circuits back in the 1940s.

Which science fiction writer are you?

Cute quiz!

That said, I honestly didn't think there would ever be another game that even equalled either Ocarina of Time or Final Fantasy VII. I was way wrong. Twilight Princess owns. Telma is the biggest whore in Hyrule, triple-goddess bless her, and I *heart* her, even though it was a beeotch getting that stupid cart across Hyrule Field to Kakariko. She shoved her boobs at Link a bunch of times and sashayed off to score with Renado, and already she has completely won me over.

Also, the fact that the opening music is the beginning of the original Zelda theme makes me warm and happy in my video game places. ^_^ Am I fangirling again? Oh, believe it. Link has been my hero since I was a little kid and he was just a pixilated sprite. Now he's this freaky blue-eyed beast, and I love it. :D

Somebody needs to beat Malo, though. That kid keeps sassing me.
