Love it. And yes, I am a hypocrite, but there you go. Now I want one that rants about the common use of words that don't mean what people think they do or just plain don't exist. As in Mano-a-mano does not mean man to man, if you are a atheist you cannot be a heretic, and for the love of god I thought we'd been through this in the news already, but irregardless is not a fucking word. Funny, I recently suggested to someone on craigslist that if they fixed the grammar on their want-ad they might get a better caliber response. I was sent an email saying that they wouldn't hire me, which was funny because I wasn't applying, but a minute later the grammar was fixed. Well, I've got to have some entertainment..
LOL good job on the craigslist catch! And I HATE "irregardless." Also recently I've been runnin across people misusing "sarcasm." People seem to think it means just saying what's on your mind. GAH.
And "literally." I LITERALLY died laughing. LITERALLY. :/
Fuck me sideways! If someone starts up with my beloved sarcasm I'm just going to start punching people. I've heard the literally thing too, like it signifies intensity. Do you think it has to do with the fact that they're not really supposed to correct kids in school because it makes them feel bad? It's just rampant, and it's in news papers, bill boards and radio. It just irks me that people don't seem to care anymore what they sound like. When I am corrected I always feel (suitably) embarrassed but also curious. I usually look up the word to try to back-track and figure out why I though it meant something else. I've gingerly corrected people sometimes who I though would care only to have them shrug and keep on going with the same misuse. When will the world realize that we have all the answers????
