Choke your own wood!

la_belle_laideWhen I got in my car to head home today, it was 40 degrees. By the time I got home, it was twenty seven. And the weather channels are saying that tonight's going to be one of the coldest on record, going down to minus ten. O_o Gosh, it's feast or famine around here. The cool thing was that when I was driving home it was snowing every other mile, and only on one side of the road. Go fig! Ahh, the Beautiful Island of Long. And then by the time I was nearly home it was like driving through a blizzard. The snow wasn't sticking yet but it was total white-out, couldn't see the traffic lights until you were upon them. Pretty neat.
Today was the first day I got to work with Jennel since her recent health issues. It was really so awesome to work with her again. Also, she reinstated Non-Creepy Backrub Day, which is like, YEAH! Okay, maybe it is a little creepy, but totally worth it. A bunch of us decided to hang out here at my place on Sunday for pizza, ice cream, cookie dough and maybe a movie. Or maybe just chilling. I love nights like that.
Oh, here's something else interesting. Over on the 30STM board there's a group of guys whose only MO whenever they disagree with someone is to tell them to go get raped, that rape is funny, that all the girls are gonna get raped, rape this and rape that, rape your mom, etc. And one guy (god, this guy used to be on my LJ f-list, WTF? It was before I knew him well enough,) posts all kinds of scat porn and violent porn into threads he doesn't like, just to upset people and get the threads deleted. To him, the worst offense on the board is to admire Jared Leto. Once you do that you're a "fangirl" and he starts in with the scat pics, then the rest of them start in with the graphic rape posts. If you think this is hyperbolic, hang out there for a few months and see. (What's worse, I think, is some of the women who encourage this by just giggling over it. Oh yes, it's all in fun to describe to a girl how you're going to rape her! It's not serious, so just giggle about it. God, and those guys eat that up.) Anyways, so today I hit critical mass. It's really the hypocrisy that gets me most of all: "Your offense--being a fangirl--is worse tham my offense, which is telling you you're going to get raped and posting scat porn.") I just put the smack down on each of them. I wouldn't say I went nuclear, but I put them in their place and I did it in a mean way. I said some really, truly mean things, but they were also what I suspect are true things, and I don't feel badly at all over saying them. I do, however, feel badly that I let some folks knock me off my otherwise perfect zen. ;) The place is just sad anymore. Glitterama (I love you, my dear!) never posts anymore, Vanessa hasn't posted in a long time, and there really isn't much news going on there. I think I'll stick to the "Beautiful Men" thread. ;D
Speaking of 30STM, how about this headline: "Leto Tried To Choke Wood at Awards Show" I mean, god, leave the guy alone! Granted that there are better places to decide to choke wood, but I say let a man's private life stay private.
Well, anyway, so laundry is done and put away and the house (or at least this room) is fairly clean, so I think it's time to bust out some Twilight Princess and see if I can't stall some more before finishing it. Yup!
