So today Casse called in sick with the pukies and whatnot, (and for tomorrow, too,) and it was all kinds of busy (and will be tomorrow, too,) but I'll just muddle through it. Once home, I was very productive. I saw my goddaughter off home (she spent two days here,) then I: cleaned the bird cages and fed the birds, cleaned Pendragon's cage, cleaned the fishtank and changed the water, did my laundry, watered all of the plants, fed the dogs, and answered an important email. More on that later.

So yeah, Spencer and Meghan came here on Tuessday. Spencer DROVE them there. You hear me? Spencer DROVE here. I'm still not over that. I don't think I can be. Then he DROVE home yesterday. [livejournal.com profile] awakesoon, you've got an infant nephew, and when you post about him, I think of Spencer. I have to tell you, the next seventeen years are going to fly. I know you believe that now, but you won't understand it until Ethan pulls up in your driveway one day, still the same boy in some ways but distant; not latching onto your leg anymore or asking you to pick him up, but coolly telling you about junior prom and where he wants to go to college. Dude, trust me when I tell you: this comes tomorrow. Time sucks.

But anyway, Spencer, Meghan and I decided to get on with KH2 (they've finished it already!) so we got out KH1 and decided to finish a game that Spencer had saved. Wouldn't you know that my game froze during the ending?! So we had to download it after all. Then a very confusing summary of Chain of Memories, which I still don't get, and we started up KH2. When Spencer said, "Oh, by the way, it's the longest opening sequence ever. It's like three hours." I thought he was kidding. HE WAS NOT. Six days?! An opening of six in-game days, all told about 2 or 3 hours of gameplay, and then the main title? Dude.

Anyway, it's a fun little game so far, and I liked Roxas (or R0xx0rz as I call him) as much as I could get to like a character that... well, I shouldn't say, because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't started it yet. Anyway, it's a neat game. Though I'm totally hating Aeris's voice. Sounds like she's been smoking too much Lifestream, you know? Also hating Fuujin's voice. "INSTANT ANNIHILATION" is not supposed to be spoken in sugary tones. And Leon's voice. And Seifer's. And Cid's, which is maybe the worst voice ever. Aside from Sora, the voice acting is all pretty godawful so far.

Also, we finished up FF7 because Spencer had never finished that. He actually finished Kingdom Hearts for me, and I finished FF7 for him. I figured I'd be pretty rusty and Sephiroth would waste me, but you know what? I finished him off in seven minutes. Sad.

So Spencer DROVE home yesterday and Meghan decided to stay another day. Today while I was at work, her mom (my aunt) called my mom and said that one of Meg's chickens had died and that Meghan should come home, but not to ruin the rest of her day by telling her just yet. My Mom said that on the way home, Meghan was talking excitedly about how big her chickens had gotten, all the funny little chicken things they do, how she loves to pet their feathers and whatnot. Meghan is sort of like I am with her pets: extremely attached. So now I'm just so bummed thinking that my Jou-chan is at home now, devastated because her pet is dead and there's nothing that's going to make her feel any better anytime soon. That just completely bites.

So, aside from that, I got tossed a Hula show by a lovely dancer West of here with whom I've worked before. I thanked her profusely for the offer, but my acceptance had a condition. This dancer used to work tons of shows with Melissa (Melissa was doing them on the side when she was with our group, never saying anything to us about them.) I told her, Look, I'd love to do the show, but Melissa and I have very different ideas about what Hula is, and so professionally, I can't work with her. And I'd hate to ruin your show by not being on top of my game because of something like that. She said that she could understand how I felt, and that it wasn't a problem. Then I said I'd have to run it past C & C to see if they minded if I did the show. It's right around the corner from where I work and I really want to do it. I hope it all works out.

Anyway, I should get on KH2 again. Later on I can watch some Buffy season 2, because you know why? ALL MY HOUSEWORK IS BELONG TO ME. (Meaning that I did it all already. In case, uhh, that wasn't clear.)

A-freaking-men. When I heard Aeris first speak I wanted to cry. Was she purposefully speaking like she was putting no force in her words in a sad attempt to sound sweet and innocent? Cuz if so, she just sounds like a serial killer. 'Hello, Cloud.' And don't get me started on the awful attempt at a drawl a la Cid. It does get a little better, I promise, so hang in there. ;) Just mute whenever Aeris or co shows up.

I think a lot of the time the Japanese ---> American translation tries to translate the dialect, and this usually wrecks the dub. I can only imagine that Cid's Japanese dialect is considered to be unrefined, and so they did what was easiest (and, IMO, laziest): they used a hick dialect in the English version. I think the same thing happened to that broomheaded guy in Rurouni Kenshin, the one that Sano fought with. It's a bad choice.

As far as Aeris goes, she just sounds like she's in a coma. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for that choice. >_>
