Well, so for years and years I've been in search of this one episode of ER that had Ewan McGregor in it, and I could never get my hands on it. Then Casse at work told me that Netflix has lots of TV shows, which seemed to be the solution. At last, an end to this desperate need was in sight! So I signed up for the free trial of Netflix on Saturday and put only that one DVD in my wishlist: the 4th disc of the third season of ER. Because, Ewan McGregor.

And it came today! I got an email last night that it was on its way so I knew it would be here. Work lately has been all kinds of hectic and godawful, way too much hostility and bad vibes all around. Seems like everyone's unhappy about something, everyone is fighting all the time or whispering, or being snappish or troublesome in some way. It could have been a miserable day, but oh, me! What I had to look forward to when I got home! 40 minutes worth of a TV show that would have Ewan McGregor in it! And judging from the time period, I could guess that he'd have that cute boy look, with the dorky hair that you know at some point he's going to grab and pull in dorky frustration. Now of course, I knew that he had to die in this episode, but geez, I've seen him die a few times in movies. I might have mentioned at some point that he always seems to have some "OMG SCREAM AND WAIL IN AGONY!!!!1111" scene in most of his movies, like it's in his contract or something, so I kinda braced myself for that. After all, Shallow Grave is one of my favorite movies of all time, and who can forget that scene. Gosh, I even stole a big scene from my stupid novel directly out of that movie. (Say, [livejournal.com profile] minrho, did you ever get to watching that DVD yet?)

So all day it was what I was looking forward to. Finished all of my work, edited my story once again, cleaned all the bird cages, giggling to myself all night because at eleven PM I was going to sit down with a bag of fresh strawberries and watch the crap out of this episode of ER with Ewan McGregor in it! Yes, he dies at the end, but I'll bet he does it well.

Never having seen an episode of ER before, I didn't have a clue how graphic and bloody and disturbing it is. Which is all right I guess, I mean, House, right, my favorite TV show... But... Ewan McGregor! Bloody and gory and dying horribly, completely not a fun experience at all.

Now I just need to see cheerful happy pictures of Ewan McGregor so that I'm not disturbed for the rest of the night.
