la_belle_laideLet's see, the following people were at my party: Jenn and her two sons, Jenn and Keith W., Michelle, Rob and Steve (her boyfriend and their roommate, respectively,) Tricia, Casse, Donna, Tony, Jane, Nicole, Nathanial (Nicole's bf,) Laura W., Matt, and surprisingly enough, Bossman and his little daughter. One person was conspicuous in his absence. No surprise, though. Nineteen guests, twenty people with me included. I think that's the biggest party I've ever personally thrown. Everyone got a lei and a kiss, and there were enough of both to go around.
Casse made the drinks (mmmm, mudslide, so yummy! And pina colada and strawberry daquiri,) I amused Jenn's sons by setting up Kingdom Hearts for them to play and chatting Star Wars with them. Laura brought her baby blue over and we took turns going indoors to feed all the many birds. Also, Laura bought me an adorable brass key-holder designed like birds on a perch. Casse, Nicole, Nathanial, Donna, Laura and I all went for a swim. Michelle brought over her famous pinwheels (spicy as hell tonight) and The Big Sandwich was big enough to go around and still have some left over to send home with anyone who wanted some for lunch tomorrow.
At around 9:15 or so, I got a call from one of my Kung Fu sisters who had found a baby bird in her yard, and was pretty sure the parents of said bird were dead. She didn't feel at all comfortable holding onto him until class tomorrow, so she came all the way out of her way (from where our class is held, which is 19 miles from my house and takes me 25 minutes to drive [most of it is twisty, turny backroad,] but longer at night when you don't know where you're going,) to drop him off with me, at around 10 PM. It's an older fledgling grackle who is very sweet. It was murder trying to give her directions to my house after a mudslide and pina colada.
I'm still a little buzzed right now, but mostly really freaking tired. Jeez, yesterday Kung Fu and then dancing till 2 AM and then today running around with all this madwackery. I feel like I've been standing up for two whole days. But in a good way.
Bed, soon. But first, feeding all the birds one more time.
