Yesterday I contacted a ton of people about Jimmy, just sending out all sorts of emails and pleas to whomever I could reach. Most of the major rescues and working dog groups had to turn me down, because of Jimmy's fear aggression. However, one woman who works in rescue and also at a newspaper has offered to place an ad for free, specifying Jimmy's needs and being very clear about the challenges. Also, she found a trainer who is willing to donate training for Jimmy. One handler (probably me,) will take Jimmy to the trainer at the trainer's convenience to see if we can't work some miracles. ^_^

I have to clear this with one of our vets, but it just might work. ^____^

By the way, makes me feel good I am not the only one from the east coast on the Native American Chat room. Maybe I will see you (and about thousands of others) at the Labor Day festival!!

Yes, I hope to go the the festival this year. ^_^ Labor day is always so crazy, but I'm going to try to get there. I missed it last year.

Maybe you would be interested then. When I was in Utah, I visited Best Friends animal shelter and took a tour. I did not know it even existed, but the town it was in was only 4000 people, not much else to do.
Best Friends is the largest no kill animal shelter in the world. it houses Dogs, Cats, birds, and any other animal found on Noah's ark. I know that people volunteer there for vacations, and went I get time I would love to as well.

I took a 90 minute tour. It was so beautiful. The horses had their own ranch, dogs had a pen and walking area, cats had their own room full of toys. State of the art vet care. People volunteer there all the time as vets. I think I will just have to stick to feeding and cleaning cages, since I have no experience besides the usual stuff you can do at home (heartworm pill, cleaning up vomit, the like)
