la_belle_laideWell, I took Pendragon to work today and Rob looked at his tail. Rob thinks that oral antibiotics will do the trick, but I ahve to bring Pendragon back in ten days to make sure it's working. Rob thinks we can avoid another repeat of last year; he would only worry, he said, if the tail started getting stiff and black. He said it smelled like an enchillada. O_O To me, it smelled like rotten hamburger meat, but that was the other night. Ugh.
It actually does look better today, though. I don't have as bad a feeling about it as I did last year, and after all, I think it was a good idea to bring Pendragon in to have his tail looked at, even if it is a hassle getting him in the carrier. (Boy, was he ever pissed. He scratched me up but good. He also hissed and clawed and tried to bite. Eesh.) Rob says the antibiotics won't hurt his kidneys at all This is all to the good. Also, Pendragon put on weight since last year. Overall, I'm feeling much more mellow about it than I was the other night.
However, I'm way sick today, too. I hardly slept last night because there were phlegm bombs going off in my head and chest. Very sticky. I have a killer sinus inflammation; my eyes are so bloodshot and watery I can't get my contact lenses in. Yuck!
I'm still going to Kung Fu tonight. I've been away far too long. I was supposed to go Monday, but we got hit with that Nor'easter Monday night and the roads were a mess (highway department tends to forget that this town exists.) Also, I just think that it will help me. All the ickiness and slowness in my joints, you know? Time to shake it out.
I have to be better by Saturday, because it's Oceans of Ho(pe)! Here is a very short article on it in Dan's Papers. Here's the info from the original Atlantis page. I love Oceans of Hope; it's like the animal care worker's annual ball. It's also the one time a year (aside from any various weddings) that we all get to not only ditch our scrubs, but get into really formal clothes. Me, I went the creative route this year, and bought that dress I mentioned downpage. I can't wait to put it on and swish around.
Today, I was going to go out to the florist/greenhouse in town and look for some kind of nice plant, like a lemon tree or orange tree, or maybe even olive or something, but now I just feel like sitting down. I guess I'll go Saturday after Hula, maybe stop at the store and pick up soemthing cool and sparkly to put in my hair, too. Who knows.
More snow is expected today, and Sunday and Monday, and then next Friday, too. I can't believe I have to say this, but I'm almost tired of winter. Almost tired of snow. I guess I tend to starte feeling like this after the Florida trip every year, and especially after Oceans of Ho. What comes next? Until Spring thaw, really not much. It gets sort of boring.
I so completely hope that this March and April is a thousand times better than last year.
