That whole thing with the person I mentioned downpage has actually escalated. This is the Hula community, by the way, and one of the women there, who has always disagreed with me having been given a name in Hawaiian (because I don't have Hawaiian blood,) is trying to tell people in the Hula community that I said I was in certain halau, when I wasn't, and I never did say that I was. Tonight, I wrote to these Kumu Hula and said, "I don't know what you're hearing, but please don't get the wrong idea." Also, I just wrote to a bunch of other Hula dancers and Kumu: This is what's going on. What would you do? What's the right thing to do? Hopefully I will get an answer.

Kung Fu today was awesome. I learned the beginning of the second form, which is the one I've been jonzing to learn since I saw it. Also, we did a lot of strength today, which I very much needed. As much as practice during my vacation, I know I'm going to have to start over when I return. And not only that, but the guy who started the same time I did will be two weeks ahead of me. Oh, woe! ;)

In other news, I've passed a sort of roadblock in the story I've been trying to write. It was the section I had been looking forward to writing since I began, but when I got to it, I choked, like I usually do. What to do then? Well, what I do, when I get the motivation, is write anyway and try not to judge what I'm writing. It's probably going to suck, but I got the scene out after all, and it's only a first draft. Like one writer said in Writer's Digest: the first draft is like building a house. After that, you decorate the house and put furniture in. That's such a good way to look at it.

Look! Elvis's official site has pictures of JRM as Elvis. JRM looks like him, only hot, doesn't he? And look here on this JRM fansite. Oh, so delish. I could eat him all up three times over. Of course, if I did that, I'd have to throw him up twice, and that'd be so wasteful, so maybe I'd just eat him up once. Point is, he's yummy.

Here's something lame: I joined a fanclub. In the last fifteen years, I've only ever done that once, and it was for Mystery Science Theater 3000. God, I miss that show sometimes. Anyway, the lame fangirl in me joined the House, MD fanclub. WTF? Why? I have no idea. A TV show of all things. But the snark is beautiful, I couldn't resist.

Now, tomorrow, I can sleep late! Go, me! Tonight I shall watch a movie, maybe something on cable although I wish like hell I had a JRM movie to watch that I haven't seen yet. Or maybe I can re-watch all the good Gormenghast parts. ^_^ But whichever, I'll just sit around with a cup of chocolate soy and be mellow and happy. Now, doesn't that sound heavenly?

If you were "given" a Hawaiian name, my guess is that it was from someone that had the right to do so. It isn't as if you gave it to yourself, right? She is just a jealous bitch who can fuck right off, and if you can get up the nerve, you can tell her I said so. It isn't her place to question the person that gave your name to you, unless (and this would be a real stretch) she is a Hawaiian herself with more...what is the word I want? Seniority? Community standing? Rank? Elder? than the person in question. Really, the importance she places on herself over him is outrageous. *I have vague memories of you writing about the important people you know in Hawaii and the kind of adoptive relationship that you have.* In other words, it isn't just you she is insulting in this case.

cool on the Kung Fu front, and just remember that everyone will have their own pace. Besides I have confidence in you. :D

I can always count on you to give me a smile. ^_^ Yes, the girl is Hawaiian, but I don't think she is Kumu Hula. She might be--who knows? But my name was given to me by a Kumu Hula. She simply doesn't believe that I have studied with the two people (or more) I've mentioned because she asked them for a class roster (at least, that's what the other guy told me,) and my name wasn't on it. Well, obviously, I don't live anywhere near them, so I'm not a regular student. But at the time, I was with them and learning from them, so... And I will be again in the future, with any kind of luck! (And time and money to travel.) ^_^

Yes, and the name was a gift to me, which I totally cherish. :D

A lot of native Hawai'ians unfortunately have become anti-haole bigots. It's pretty sad, but then, you already know what haole means. Some go as far as to measure the percentage of their purity. @_@ Gah.
