Graphic heavy!

Artist friends, may I solicite your opinions once again? This will be a graphics heavy post under the cuts, probably four images I think, between 50 and 70 KB each.

In order to avoid writing a big scene Because I was inspired, I sketched this quickie doodle.






Something was off, perspective-ish, I guess. I've looked at it so long now I can't even see what the problems are anymore. You know how your eyes start to sort of filter mistakes out after a while? I still sort of liked his smirking bastard expression, though.

Then I decided to color it.






I was sort of pleased with the ocean in the background; I really didn't expect that I could paint water at all and have it actually resemble anything close to liquid. So there was that. By that time I had already mess up his face though, and I don't know how I did that.

And then I decided to add sunset-ish highlights.






In doing so, I ruined the ocean because it no longer has that soft, ocean-y look to it. But I understand how I messed that up. What I don't get is how I kept making his face worse and worse. Hmm.

And then I tried to do water droplets. And went crazy with the stupid highlights.





By this time I had really frigged up the expression and everything else. I just can't quite see what's different. When I flip the image around it looks all off balance and just plain wrong. How the hell did I manage that? I still like his pants, though. ^_^

Anyway, thanks in advance to anyone who has a suggestion. Coloring, you know? That stuff is haaaard. /whine

ETA Sorry about the obvious crotch. Completely unintentional. It's because I can't draw, and all. ^_^;;

I think the eye needs to rotate clock-wise 5 minutes(or so) worth. Part of what that is doing is making the cheek bone way too high. His pecs also seem too low on his chest. This is just what I see, and doesn't nessecarly mean shit. ^_^

Ahhhh, it makes more sense. I know I tend to overdo his eyes. I mean for them to be really slanted up at the outside corners and down at the inside corners, like a cat's eyes a little bit. But I think that in my zeal to make certain drawings look exocit, I overdo it. :)

You need to smooth out the curve of his forehead somewhat. Also, as a guy, he needs a little something in his pants, but you knew that. ;)

Hee, I know, I tried to, but in the end I as too shy to draw his crotch, thinking that everyone would be looking at it. O_o This character would slap me for that. He wants everyone to look at it. ;)
