I kind of loathe it, really, and I think I use it as an excuse to listen to music, which I can't do when I'm writing.
So I sit there and sketch from photo references--because the only things I'm interested in drawing are people--and I listen to music. Then maybe I get a feeling for the character by the look that turns up on his/her face, and then maybe I get ideas for a scene or something, which I think I did this time, but in the end really all I have to show for the process of drawing itself is Yet another profile-to-3/4 sketch of yet another one of my characters.
Damn. Someday, I swear, I'll do a drawing with, like, actual bodies doing things.
And as for you, well, don't worry too much about me, because drawing's really just a hobby and nothing serious. Writing, too; and yes, even on my worst day in writing hell I am still a much better writer than you will ever be on any of your best days. Tch, no, not you, you ninny. You. Over there in the corner.
Sheesh.
By the by, that's just a sketch, damnit. Didn't do anything with it yet. Am annoyed once more with the androgenous look that I can't seem to get away from. Trying very hard not to make him look like freaking David Bowie, about whom I don't even want to think, never mind draw.

Well, I'm not a huge Bowie fan. (Used to be. Wish I'd known you were, back when I threw away the box set and CDs and videos. Damnit, Min, I could have given those to you!!)
As for androgeny, I'm not wild about it in my characters, but dangit, I tend to accidentally draw them that way. I like my men to be full grown, reasonably powerfully-built men, because A) it's more realistic to me and B) I like my characters to be hot. :D I'm a freaking hussy like that. None of this delicate "is that the male lead character or a ten year old girl?" waifish stuff for me.
For the record, Min, I don't find your male characters to be androgenous either. You always manage to draw male bodies and features when you draw men. Which, you know, yum and stuff.
