la_belle_laideTonight's Hula show was a freaking disaster. Everything that could possibly have gone wrong with the sound system went wrong. We had a DJ named Fat Bastard. We ended up cutting three songs. The room we danced in was a mess and a hazard, we had to leave our costumes in the bathroom, and even funnier, we had to get changed in the bathroom. There was one stall. There were four of us and we each had three costume changes and all our implements, which all together are fricking huge and everytime someone came into the bathroom, well, there we were: the four of us struggling in this teeny space to get in or out of our 1000 pound costumes made of 'otea bark. O_O It was so not pretty.
But we got paid and we danced and two more people want to book us, and the venue was across the street from a store that I love so I bought a pair of pants before the show started, so it wasn't like it was a wasted evening or anything. ;)
The weirdest part is that I've been on this Faith No More kick this week, and as I was driving to the venue I was thinking, "Now what the hell was the name of that video compilation of theirs, because I'm pretty sure I still have it...Oh, I remember! It was You Fat Bastards!" And then I get there and meet the woman who booked us and she introduces me to the DJ / comedian: "Jules, I'd like you to meet Fat Bastard."
Now that I replay that in my head, it doesn't sound like something you'd hear in real life; it sounds more like a line from a movie. Like a dark comedy or something.
In fact, that sums it up pretty well. ^_^
