Awesomeness of all varieties.

So even apart from the fanglory that was Video Games Live, there was still more awesomeness to this week.
Firstly, there's a really terrific collab going on at Ye Olde HitRECord, about shadows. There's this project about various kinds of shadows, based on the time of day or night they appear, and how they have a caste system and such. Joe was asking for contributions to it and he is specifically always looking for text.
So, I wrote a little poem based on the collab / the 'verse. Well! Not only did Joe recommend it with a heart, he also left me a really nice comment, saying that he thought it was clever, and the wordplay was pretty. "Great piece," he said, and "Content and form, both good!"
I reined myself in and did not reply "I like your content and form too bebe" and made myself say "thank you" and then stfu. It meant a lot to me because Joe is a really good writer himself and he's not just jerking off with this literature thing. He studied literature at Columbia so he's not like "hurr hurr, crimson passion and obsidian depths of my soul" kind of thing. I always really love it when people whose work means a lot to me comes forward to say something positive about my own work.
Umm. I was happy.
MORE.
Also on HitRECord, I put up a poem about a kitsune. It's no huge secret that I'm one of those, what's that word for those of us who use a Japanese LJ name? Weeaboo or something? I have no idea what is the origin of that word, I prefer "Japanophile." ;D But yeah, I'm kind of annoyingly obsessed with Japanese culture and it's totally a poem about a kitsune.
Best thing ever,

Yes. Again, I was HAPPY.
Then there was the Kung Fu awesometimes. The school was closed for a bit, and then the week after that I was studying for my boards and then taking my boards, on my usual KF days so I was out for two weeks. Returning to Kung Fu is always a little hard, with the warmups and stuff, getting back into the stretching and the strength and the whatnot, but it always feel so awesome afterwards.
And we are still doing sword forms, which could not be better, seriously. So we did broadsword for a while, and then Sifu was out and Scarred Hardcase was covering for him, and we did some trapping.
I got my ass thoroughly kicked and it was great. Yeah, sure, I got thrown a few times, ridiculously owned and I looked really ridiculous and flaily, but damned if I didn't learn a lot, a lot a lot—for me—in the space of an hour.
We tape our classes sometimes, or at least I do, and sometimes Sifu does. So I got a bunch of stills from all of this that are either so neat looking or so hilarious that I have to share them.
Not a sword form, just me messing around with two swords.

Actual sword form stills.

Me getting my ass kicked.

Everybody Was Kung Fu fighting!

Everybody Wasn't Kung Fu Fighting.

So yeah. January, you were pretty awesome. Thank you for being awesome and February, please try to continue the trend if you can.
