BETTER updates.

Haku's neurologist just called about an hour ago. The MRI looked totally normal, which is obviously a HUGE relief. I kinda like this neurologist though, because he, like me, assumes the worst before getting too hopeful. The spinal tap results won't be back for another week or week and a half, so he can't rule out things like meningitis or something bacterial or viral without that. But even so, anything that's left is worlds better than: cancer, hydrocephalus, physical brain deformities, liver failure, liver shunts, or kidney disease.
Assuming that the spinal tap comes back negative, the result would be primary or idiopathic epilepsy (which is a term that I really just hate: all epilepsy must be cause by something?) Diagnosing epilepsy is a process of elimination. I feel unsatisfied with that in general, and I'm not even a doctor.
BUT!!! This is still TOTALLY good news, and I will be so glad if it's "just" epilepsy.
Last night I wrote that the dr. was suspicious of that diagnosis because, as he said, it is so rare in salukis, and you hardly ever hear of that. My bestie Kim is sharp as a needle and she said, "Really? That's weird. How many salukis has he actually seen?" Hmm, very good call. I just love her! She thinks around the corner.
My folks have been so awesome during all of this, doing way more than their share of taking care of my dog for me. Also, my whole family and even my friends have been great. I have the best pals in the world. My Kung Fu friends--especially Empress, Lady Chrysanthemum and the Gold Dragon--have also been ridiculously kind and understanding.
Today, Mom was at the hospital with Gran and I left a message for her on her cell after the Dr. called me. I was just talking to her and she said that she was telling Gran about Haku. Gran was lucid enough to observe, "That's good, but they said he was fine last time, too. Poor puppy." As pessimistic as that sounds, the good news concerning her is that: she remembers Haku, she remembers the situation, and she's also correct. Which means that she's starting to reason things out again.
But, shortly after that she told my Mom not to stay gone too long, because she (Gran) was going to be in China. O_o
So! Now we just have to wait for the doctors to stabilize all her madwhack homeostasis dramallamas, clear up the infections, and then she can hopefully go back to her usual medical madwhackery which, though not necessarily good, is still the devil you know (and the Grandma I know.)
Then I need to pass my finals and go to China.
Umm.
