Again with the stitches!

Man, I don't even believe the kind of day I'm having. Nice, pleasantly cloudy and cool Monday, and I take the dogs out for their usual; we do this every day when I'm at home. I take them out, and today the two oldest start pickign a fight with the neighbor's dog through the fence. This is nothing new. (The same dog, and the same fence where I decided to put up tarp and paint that huge mural--right after my eye surgery--in order to prevent things like this.) Anyway, they always do this, and usually Haku will run around behind them nipping at their backs. I never knew why he did this. (I asked oen of our vets today; she said it was transference. He's so panicked and defensive that he doesn't know who he's biting or why, just that everyone is all worked up.) Well, today he got Trisky pretty bad. I didn't even realize he had touched her until she wheeled around, grabbed him by the neck and pinned him to the ground. She wasn't just trying to chase him away, she was trying to hurt him. Then I saw that she had a huge gash, a total flap-wound, on her leg where he had bitten her. This is actually the second time she's had this! The first was when a projectile bird feeder, knocked away by Sano, went careening into her leg.
So I rushed her down to work for stitches. Once again she took them wide awake and didn't move, cry, or anything. The perfect lady, as always. While she was there we did her senior profile checkup, which she was supposed to have on Saturday, but I thought, why bring her down twice? She's already here. And even though they want to schedule an ultrasound just to keep track her the heart murmur and make sure she doesn't need to me on any meds for it, everything else was status quo. (*knocking on wood*)
You have to know that Trisky's senior profile is like the worst day of my year. I panic through the whole thing. I will continue to panic up until I get her bloods back in a few days, and then probably when it gets close to the ultrasound, too. Just because, you know. That's how I roll.
In other news, my kitchen is almost done! My dishwasher is the coolest thing. I can't hook it up yet, though, because I need an adaptor or something like that, which I was supposed to get today, but, yeah. I made lentil soup yesterday that was wikkid awesome if I do say so myself. I don't even remember how I did it, but it ruled.
Oh, yesterday I went out with Mom and Gran to Bath and Body Works and to Tarzhay. Gran bought me one of those wall-flower things, those scented thingies, you know? And some storage bins from Target, which I totally needed. ^_^
I'm so damned hungry. Is it Thanksgiving yet?

Date: 2007-11-14 12:38 am (UTC)Hi, It's OP--J
Date: 2007-11-13 05:41 am (UTC)Nothing they did worked. He wouldn't eat, or drink, he couldn't urinate without being cath'd. Over the course of his stay he was cath'd about 24 times. Luckily he passed most of the stones, but he ended up with one stuck in his urethra, and they had to do surgery. They removed his penis and rerouted his tract, made a new opening. It got rid of the stone, luckily. The kidney stone won't ever pass, but Dr Cindy said cats can live with kidney stones if they eat a special diet.
Of course he won't eat it. :P So he has to take one half a pill twice a day to keep his pH levels even.
While he was in the hospital, they also found he has a heart problem, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The right side of his heart doesn't pump as fast as the left. So, you guessed it, half a heart pill every day too.
Dumplin was in the hospital two days short of three weeks. I brought him home the day he had surgery. He's been doing wonderfully ever since; he's more active, sassier(if that's even possible), and just so much fun.
He's the first cat I've ever had. He and Raindrop are my special babies. I came really close to losing Dumplin last summer, but I am thankful beyond words that I did not.
I just wanted to share that with you. Our furry babies are such a part of our lives, those of us who have them, that when something happens to them, you just freak.
I hope Trisky heals well and feels better soon. Please give her kisses for me. And an extra treat. :)
Talk to you soon!
love ya
Jen

Date: 2007-11-14 12:40 am (UTC)But Trisky is doing better (*knock on wood!*) and thank you for asking!
They actually are a part of my family. I value them over most people, to tell you the truth. ^_^

Date: 2007-11-14 08:39 pm (UTC)My boys, though, that's different. Dumplin and Raindrop are my world.
BTW, Havok is beautiful. Never thought I'd say that about a crow. :) I think he might be an exception as well.
