LOATHE

I pretty much hate movie editing programs across the board. I did finally manage to get MovieMaker to work with my Sony videos by plugging in every available codec under the sun (even though all the web pages said to UNplug them to get it to work,) but Movie Maker doesn't have any of the effects I need, most especially the speeding up and slowing down effect that I rely on because it's all set to music.

The biggest, hugest two problems I have with Sony Vegas (which, by the way, I loathe this program with the fire of a thousand suns) is that it's not compatible with any of the files from my other camera as I've mentioned, and even worse is that it runs too slowly in order for me to see what I'm doing. Believe me, I have every program shut off, the only things running on my computer are my mouse, keyboard, volume, and some virus protection programs (none of which are working because I keep picking up Outerinfo, Purityscan and Downloader every few minutes, like, literally after I've run all anti-spy/virus/adware programs and deleted them all.) Even still, everytime I try to play back anything I've done just for review, it hangs on every three or so frames and then jumps ahead about 20 frames and then goes for about three, and then hangs again. It gives me that "..." message by the frame count.

I know I say this all the time but basically, I want to kill everyone who has made all of these programs.

While I'm at it, I also want to kill anyone who has ever been involved with the making of all this adware. In fact, if I could keep track of all the companies I see popping up on Outerinfo, I would totally boycott them just because. The only one I can remember off the top of my head is L'Oreal and I boycott them anyway, so.

I'm just venting.

And while I'm at it, does anyone know which programs will remove Purityscan, Outerinfo, Downloader and Clickspring for good? And don't say to use Hijack This! and post a log somewhere, because I will punch you in the vagina. I want something that will remove it automatically. I'll pay, but I have to be sure it will work, and will work for good, and then block any re-infections.

I'd say it's likely you need more RAM to run it at the right speed, unless it really is that shitty of a program. I know I can get Vegas and Premiere to work on my computer, even though when I download the trial stuff it usually tells me I don't have the required RAM to run right, and often it will act like you're describing your own issues. Haven't used Vegas in a while, but Premiere functioned pretty good for me, but would get laggy if it'd been opened for long while or when my project's file size went up.

My RAM is pretty good, though. I keep thinking about getting Premiere but then I figure, what if that sucks, too? It would be a waste of money and space. Also, the files in this are pretty big, that's got a lot to do with it I'm sure. It lags when I use filters, effects, and when I do quick cut scenes. In long scenes that aren't cut and don't have any effects at all, it runs better.

I like Premiere a lot more than Vegas, but since I know I do have RAM issues with it, I can't tell you if it gets laggy because of that, or because it's crappy. Both get laggy for me, actually, but I like Premiere's controls and junk more.

I'll definitely look it up, seeing as how I'm trying to make a movie and failing due to crap editing software. Thank you!

You can remove the clickspring/purityscan/outerinfo software by running the uninstaller:

http://www.outerinfo.com/OiUninstaller.exe

(it's free)

You could try Ad-Aware, and Spybot Search and Destroy - they're two of the older anti-apyware programs, and between them deal with pretty much everything.

Note that there are many fakes out there claiming to be "Spybot" or "Ad-Aware" - the correct Ad-Aware is at lavasoftusa and the correct Spybot is at safer-networking.

I've got both of those, but I've only got the free version of Spybot S&D. Do you think it would be worth it to pay for it? I mean, do you think it would work, and work for good?

There is no official pay-for version of Spybot. What you probably have is one of the many fakes. Make sure you download Spybot from the site I linked (it should have "safer-networking" in the url).

Ad-Aware does come in free and commercial versions. All the commercial versions of that add are real-time scanning and similar - the free version has full spyware scanning and removal functionality. Again check that you've downloaded it from the correct site. If you're worried about this, I can give you direct download links to known good versions.
