Not my own bad luck, but other people's.

So here's how it's been going.
This morning I woke up early for a photo shoot at the beach, because we (as in Na Wahine) are looking to make some promo material and we realized that we don't really have many pictures of ourselves together. So from Claudine's house, we packed all our gear in her car and rode to the beach. The beach was really nice, except the sun was way too frigging bright and I couldn't open my eyes for too long. Most of the pics on my digital didn't come out too well. Here are two, though:

It ocurred to me as I was walking down the beach in my gear and everyone was staring. Those outfits are very striking and have a powerful look about them. I often feel like I can take on anything when I get into that Tahitian stuff, and I suspect it shows. So I asked Camille's husband to get a pic of us walking up the beach. Everyone seemed to think it was an odd idea, but I think that if that picture had come out crisp instead of blurry, it would have been awesome.
The only other one I like is this one:

I lack any form of cuteness or prettiness at all, but I do think my hair looks really nice. ^_^
We ran late, then I had to rush off to Kung Fu (without the help of my side mirror--I never realized just how much I relied on that sucker,) for Small Wheel and a bit of broad sword:

Lee and I taped each other because A) I think it helps to watch yourself to see how you're messing up and B) it's really fun.
I was in better spirits until I was about to leave, and one of my friends there informed me that our mutual good friend who just had a bone marrow transplant for a very aggressive form of blood cancer and had subsequently been released, was back in the hospital. This time it is for gall stones, only they can't operate because she has no immune system. (Just a little while ago, I tried calling the hospital, but they said she wasn't a patient there. I tried calling her at home, and she wasn't there, either. So I emailed her, and now I'm just waiting.)
When I got home, I saw my Mom already waiting for me and I could tell by her face that something was wrong.
And what it was was that my cousin's husband was in the emergency room. Bear in mind, when I say "cousin" I'm usually talking about my cousin who lives across the street, with whom I grew up as if we were sisters etc. So when I say "cousin's husband" think more in terms of "brother in law." Apparently he tried to lift something heavy, busted what was already a hernia, then started having siezures. My cousin, of course, flipped the hell out. She doesn't drive, so she called the ambulance and then called my Mom immediately after. So as soon as I got home, we went running down to emergency.
The neurologists are all telling him that he just got scared and that's what caused the siezures, but I have honestly never heard of that before. It doesn't sound right. They didn't find anything, and he's got to do follow-ups and all of this, but it still strikes me as weird. There are other aspects to this, too, that I can't really talk about in LJ. Anyway, so they released him, and he seems a lot better.
I missed Donna's barbeque tonight.
Oh, and check this out: backing up a few years, in '04 I bought these red, satin, Chinese print cut-off pants with little buttons on the cuffs and flowers embroidered all over. They never fit me up until recently, and then I actually had some room in them. They cost me $50, and I rarely splurge on clothes like that. Most of my pants cost about $19 at the most. I was excitedly thinking that maybe I'd wear them to this benefit we're having on the 28th, or if not, I'd finally get to wear them somewhere. But then in the rush to get to the hospital, I left them on top of Haku's crate. Haku, of course, was in his crate. Suffice it to say, no more shiny red pants. >_>
I need an ice cream and a good movie.

You're hot, why must you fight it? ^___~
I hope your friend and your family heal up soon. Here's wishing them a speedy recovery.

Thank you for that. My cousin is home now, but I admit to being worried about my friend.
