Last night was Sifu's last day teaching until he gets back from the hospital and has recovered enough to come back. Over a month, I think that should be. So of course he beat us to death with drills, which I loved even though I was dying. Like Lee once said, it's not that I love doing it, it's that I love having done it. Or, maybe not. I think I really do love it while it's going on. Then in BBC we did more trapping and locking. Sifu once asked me if I was goth (because I don't tan) and I told him that I aws goth lite. Now he calls me, "my goth girl." Which I don't mind.

After class a few of us went out to dinner and stayed until after closing. Let's see, aside from Sifu and, obviously, me, it was Lee, Chris K., Chris C., Greg and Jim. We sat around at the table goofing off and drinking sake ... well, I didn't drink sake (you know me, when I have to drive I won't even look at alcohol.) I tried to get some pics, but none of them came out. Sifu toasted to Lao Shir's health, too. What a strange group of people. I have so much affection for them, though. I mean, I think that comes across clearly in this blog. I get attached to people and I like to belong to extended families. The idea of 'Ohana and of a kwoon click with me. I'm clannish that way. I would defend any of those people. I wouldn't have to, of course--at least the Kung Fu people--but I would.

Today my brother Jim came out for a visit. I was at work most of the day but he was still around when I got home. He played classical guitar and tried to put me in a wrist lock. (He's a blackbelt in, what, karate? Jujitsu? Both?) He couldn't. But that's not because of anything he did wrong; my wrists just don't lock. Then we just chatted and caught up as much as possible. I won't see him again until September, so I value anytime I do get to spend with him.

Birds as of today, aside from my regs: Mahana (hawk-attacked robin,) Mark (grackle from Laura,) Cathy and Grace (two doves,) Talim (finch from EEVEC, cat-bitten, busted air sacs,) Kala, (robin who came in today,) and an as yet un-named catbird who looks like he got clipped by a car. The doves and catbird are in the aviary together.

I rented "Girl, Interrupted", god help me. I loathe Winona Ryder, but you understand, I had to rent it. I won't have time to watch it tonight or anything, but I wanted to check the back to see how long it was. Then I read the little blurb on the back. "A young woman is put into a mental hospital after she commits suicide." Isn't that rather like closing the barn door after the cows have run free or something?

That's about it!
