According to [livejournal.com profile] princesstanya, I am the leader of GAFF! And GAFF would die without me. Awww! I feel all snuggly with GAFF now. They had just better start leaving sacrifices offerings on The Altar Of Tilly pretty soon, before I decide to go all Biblical on them. The downside, of course, is GAFF is "the dark side." Geez, does this preclude me from being a Jedi now? Do I have to be a Sith? Ah well, Siths had the better costumes. And honestly, they won most of the duels, too.

In other--though admittedly less stellar (*snick*) news, I spent most of today helping to get the new Kung Fu school ready for opening on Monday, and then having lunch with Lee. But it started out with Hula class, so I'll start there.

I told C&C about the two shows that we have possibly booked over the summer. That's not a lot of shows so far, but they are both paying shows, and one of them pays really, really well. They were both down with that, and we started talking about what we were going to include in what shows and stuff. Then we reviewed a few older Hulas, and then I had to run.

I got lost on the way to the new school, mostly because, although I knew which road it was on, I had no idea what the building looked like or what number it was, so I didn't even know what to look for. As I was riding around lost, I found myself parked at a huge, ugly, blue building. It ends up that it was the Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant that never opened. Then I finally got to the school and we began. It was just Lee, Erica and I, mostly just moving boxes aroung and cleaning, although the best part of all of this was that I got to clean and rebuild the shrine. That might not seem like a big deal to anyone else (and it really isn't,) but I felt completely honored. Lao Shir bought that shrine, and the pictures that go in it are of our Joci, our Kung Fu ancestors. So while I was cleaning the shrine and dusting the pictures and incense holders and putting everything back in place, I just felt--probably nonsensically--really honored.

Then we went to Lee's house for Vietnamese lunch, which was prepared by her awesome husband. It was one of the most unusual and best lunches I've ever had, and we ate with her husband and his auntie, and two houseguests. Lee is fluent in Vietnamese. But not only that, her house is incredible. I can't really describe it to you. I don't mean that entirely in a "I'm at a loss for words" way (although I was; most of the day all I could think of to repeat was "Gosh, this is AWESOME!") but also to protect her business. Which, believe me, is totally legitimate, just ecclectic and private. It was beautiful. I've never seen the like. Not only that, but their sitting room is like a jungle. I thought I had a lot of greenery and plants in my apartment! But they've got two huge ficus trees that cover most of the sitting room and drape over the furniture, shading the room from the sun coming in through skylights in the cathedral ceiling. And vines just dripping down every wall from two different lofts, falling to the backs of the sofas. It was like eating in the forest. Lee is such an interesting and worldly person, but more than that: she's so generous. I hope I can be sort of like her when I get to be her age.

So then after lunch we went back to the school and finished up what we could manage to finish up. There is still the office to put together, but we got the training floor cleaned and organized (this took hours!) and all the equipment put into the corners. And, of course, the shrine. ^_^ It is organized enough that we can open on Monday. The whole time we were all just kind of working and joking and chatting about this and that. It was really pleasant.

I passed the old Green Cloud on the way from Hula, and I felt a little sad. I was only there for a year, but I am so weird about change.

Well, tomorrow Jeremy is coming over. Maybe we can finish our movie, but what I'd really like to do is get some of my springtime lights up. It was fifty nine degrees today! It will probably be just as warm tomorrow. Of course, the cold is coming back next week, but what can you expect; after all, it is still winter.

Spring, though, is so close I can just about touch it.

That's right! I must have finally dropped dead, and, well, I took my GAFF down with me. Sorry!

Well, no, they're discussing it over in gaff_lj. I'm actually kinda surprised you haven't popped in yet -- one of the theories that came up was princesstanya et all complaining and getting GAFF tossed. The more likely theory is that SG is on some strong painkillers from dental surgery, and billing stuff slipped his notice.

(I'm not blaming SG in the least. I've had dental extractions done, and those are nothing compared to the more gruesome kinds of dental surgery out there. The available choices are "spend your recovery time in lots of pain" and "spend your recovery time up in the clouds, chasing butterflies.")

Yeah, I had that once, too. I chose the "mostly in pain, time to play mindless video games for three days" route. The pain meds made me sick. O_o Ugly all around. I really feel for SG.
