1 - What did you do in 2012 that you’d never done before?
Got pregnant. :) That's pretty new.
2.Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't really make resolutions on New Years.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My friend Casse, whom I used to work with at The Bad Place. Also, Jennel got married.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, I lost a few folks this year. My very beloved Uncle John Koko, for one. That one still hits me pretty hard when I think about him. I haven't yet been able to listen to his music, which is a huge loss in and of itself. And more recently, my friend Stace.
5. What countries did you visit?
None, sadly.
6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
Oh boy, an agent? I say that every year! Job security, too.
7. What date from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
August 25th was the day I went and got knocked up, so that's pretty special.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I'm not sure getting pregnant is actually an achievement. It's not something for which I needed a particular skill-set or determination. I got lucky.
I guess my biggest achievement was getting into the LRRH Redux book not once, but twice, and also having my essay on feminism sourced as the inspiration for it. That was really special for me.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Again, not nabbing that agent. Also, I think I spent a lot of time futzing around instead of writing. Another thing I say pretty much every year.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Morning sickness was pretty bad for a while. I also effed up my right shoulder earlier in the year. According to my chiropractor, I might have torn some fibers from my tendon, causing them to slip out of the groove. He set them back into place and the problem started to resolve.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Sperm. ^_^
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I want to say, I love

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Again quoting

And recently, let's add to that these tone-deaf, gun-loving, NRA-supporting assheads. Really? Now? You're doing this now?
14. Where did most of your money go?
Sperm.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
SPERM! Hehe. Getting pregnant. Thinking of baby names. Getting onesies in the mail.
And getting partial requests for my novel, and good feedback from editors and agents. Getting published again in something that meant a lot to me.
Obama's reelection, obvs. I was super excited about that.
What song will always remind you of 2012
GANGNAM STYLE! For sure! And also probably "We Are Young" by Fun. That was my summer song.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier!
ii. thinner or fatter? Oddly, thinner. But that's going to change soon enough.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer by far.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Dancing. Working out. Remodeling.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Worrying.
20. How will you be spending Christmas/New Years?
Christmas, probably partially at my cousin's house and my Mom's. Then, a second Christmas with SB, Jo-chan and my uncle. New Years, probably nothing. Though I might hit Chinatown for the Lunar New Year celebration.
21. What new people did you meet this year, and any old friends reconnected?
I met some new people on HitRECord, a new receptionist at work, some nice folks and students at the yoga studio where I taught a Hula class.
22. Did you fall in love in 2012?
nah!
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Oh boy, let's see. I've still been watching Doctor Who. I watched Lost on Netflix and got really into that, too. I like Elementary, and Once Upon A Time.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No, I'm not big on the hate. I am disappointed in lots of folks, though.
26. What was the best book you read?
I really enjoyed The Hunger Games. I also was into JK Rowling's new one, The Casual Vacancy.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Fun., I guess, because I really enjoyed quite a few of their songs. Psy, I just know the one, but I like him a lot.
28. What did you want and get?
Published again. :) By HitRECord, again. :D And pregnant!
29. What did you want and not get?
A book deal. An agent. The usual.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Looper, by far.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 40, and didn't really do much. I'd had an ultrasound two days before, and I told some friends that I was pregnant. That was kinda neat.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Agent. Book deal. More Hula.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
Same as usual, which is just "whatever's comfy." Although I did like a lot of earth tones and fitted tops this year.
34. What kept you sane?
I don't have a tendency to go insane. What kept me mellow was probably music, walking on the beach, walking in the park with my dogs, things like that.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Tom Hardy. :DDDDDD And I also really like the Obama family. I fancied Tom Hiddleston, too. He was great in The Hollow Crown.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election and everything that was at stake during it: Women's rights, voter suppression, LGBT issues, minorities. And gun control, obviously.
37. Who did you miss?
My Dad, my Gran, Uncle John, and now Stace.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I didn't meet a lot of new people this year, sadly.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012:
Cheap mashed potatoes stay down when nothing else will.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
No lyric. Just the dance to Gangnam Style, which I can do pretty well, if we're being honest.
