blood test results and Kung Fu
Aug. 27th, 2005 01:28 pmFirst order of business: dogs' blood tests. I had a message from Rob when I came home, and everything's fine with both of them. Now the only things I have left to worry about are jury duty, and where to board Pendragon when I go away. But boarding Pendragon is no big rush. I've thought of a few options, so hopefully at least one of them will work out.
Anyway, today was Kung Fu, and I was the only one who showed up for class, so basically it was a private lesson that I didn't have to pay for. Tristan is sort of re-teaching me the first form until I get it perfect, or as close to perfect as I can manage now. All four teachers who have taught me this have taught me in different ways and have changed a few moves, so it's hard for me to remember it sometimes.
Anyway, Tristan is so cute and fun that I want to squee everytime I see him. He's very positive and can find the bright side to anything that has happened to him, and when something is alreay positive, he's downright effusive. He saw the video that I made and he loved it, and he had lots to say about it, all it one breath. "That video was great, thanks for putting me in it, how cool was that, 'One more time!' that was my favorite part, I can't stop thinking about it! I'll bet Lao Shir loved it, you know, part of being a good student is caring about people, it's not just punching and kicking and stuff, it's this compassion and making people happy, it's so great that you care about people like that, it probably made her so happy, that was so cool how you did the video, everyone's talking about it, Sifu loved it, too!" And then Sifu called Tristan and I got the one-sided conversation: "Hey, Sifu! Nope, only one student today, the most dedicated student, the only one who likes me enough to show up I guess! You know, the video girl, Jules! Yeah she's doing great, really dedicated, the best student ever!" Which was hilarious because as he was saying that I was messing up hugely and I had to stop and laugh.
Tristan is loads of fun. And by the way, the when I make references to the character Tristan in my book, keep in mind that he is not named after Sehing Tristan from Green Cloud at all. In fact, Spencer suggested the name Tristan after I told him that I was looking for a character name that sounded whispery but still had to start with a T. Character Tristan was basically named by Spencer.
I feel much happier today than I did last night.
God! There's a male oriole at my door, eating the grapes off the vine over the aviary. He's incredible; I wish I had film in my camera and the batteries for my digital hadn't died; I've never seen anything so freaking orange.
Well, I guess I should do my laundry. Blech.
Oh, hang on, the ( Nerd, Geek or Dork quiz: )
