Work whizzed by superfly fast today. We hired a new girl (WOW! We so totally needed another Jenn! That makes seven. This one even has the same last name as a Jenn we already have; spelled differently, though.) She's really nice and Casse and I had a fun time training her. Our off-the-wall weirdness and 12 year old vulgarity didn't scare her away. Looks like she'll fit right in. Also, she has a tattoo of the figure eight infinity sign. Add that to the fact that we had a cat coming in named "Mobius" and what do you get? The sign that I should get my butt in gear and get back to writing Eight Wave. I shouldn't really need more prodding than that, but, well, lazy cow.

Because of my stupid knee, I'm not going to Hula tomorrow and I'm not going to train, but I do have to be at Green Cloud to open the doors for those who are going to train. That's not till eleven, though, so I can sleep late, YES! Go, me! On my way home I'm going to get some pumpkins, which I will decorate and carve in the afternoon. Then I'll clean the bathroom and then take a long, hot bath. Maybe I'll get some ice cream and a movie. Screw eating Skinny Cow ice cream, I need Unconditional Chocolate! I'm going to have to spend so much of October and November being active and crazy (training, rock concerts, Hula seminar, and hopefully swimming with a 200 pound, 6' baby dolphin,) that I need to take the time now to stock up on essential fats that I might need later. ;D

Right, so that dolphin! We were talking more about it today. The opportunity is not open to the public, just a select group of people within the animal / volunteer circle. You need to either work at the place, work where I work or have over 500 hours of volunteer work under your belt. I do have more than 500 hours of volunteer work (uhh, every day of every summer and sometimes the rest of the seasons, too?) for the last seven years... But I'm not sure if that counts; it may be you need to have volunteered specifically at this foundation (I'm pretty sure that's the case.) And all I've ever done there was go to their fundraisers and occasionally help them X ray seals. ^_^ But still, I do have the chance to do it. It's open to a select group, but it's a BIG group that is invited and the people who work at the actual foundation get dibs. I really, really hope that I can get in on it. I've thought about it so much.

Oh, and those concerts! Jeremy can't come with me to Philly on Halloween. He's got to go to this training seminar for a managerial position where he works. I'll give him this: he moves up quickly in the ranks, because he's a hard worker. Sucks, though, because it would have been fun to go to the concert together. Ah well, but this is fine, too. I sort of enjoy traveling alone. It seems less worry when you only have to amuse yourself, and if you get lost, you've only gotten yourself lost. ^_~

Aaaaand, just because I feel like it, Le Jared:

OMG YOU CAN'T MEAN ME!! :D

ETA: The Song Lyric meme:

Ahhh, time for one of my favorite memes ever. This is the "name that song by the lyric" meme. Put your music player of choice on shuffle and look at the first 20 songs, then list a lyric from each song; try not to have the title of the song in the lyric. People on your f-list or passers-by must try to guess the song title and band. Googling is cheating. Here are mine:

1) "I found tomorrow in today / Apocalyptic and insane, my dreams will never change..." (One of my favorite lyrics ever written and sang.)

2) "High above the serpentine I cross below the well worn lines entangled in a missing memory..." (Song contains some of the best vocal work ever.)

3) "Only shadows ahead, barely clearing the roof / Get to know the feelings of liberation and release..." (Another favorite lyric of all time.)

4) "I want to stay with you / I don't want to play with you / I just want to lay with you..." (Sung over what is maybe the dirtiest guitar riff ever played.)

5) "In fact, you've doubled my pain / but it's plain to see, you're not to blame..." (This is a total "bow chicka bow" song. I kid you not.)

6) "The razors and the dying roses plead / I don't leave you alone / The demi-gods and hungry ghosts of God / God knows I'm not at home..." (OMG one of the best songs. Chills everytime.)

7) "So, tell me... is God really... gonna ride shotgun... over this... Huh?!" (Awesomely delivered line.)

8) "Bombs wired to my chest I'll lace the building with bugs / 'Cause you'll always be behind me slip-streaming my buzz..." (The drum machine is played almost as a melody in this one.)

9) "Io sono prigioniera / Watashi wo senaka kara dakishimete / Sasayaku anata no kuni no kotoba wa / Sukoshi dake setsunai romantiku / Anata no toriko..." (And I'm sorry this is a tricky one, but really, what song is in both Italian and Japanese? Anime geeks will get this in a second. It's been years and I still know every word. I love this sweet song.)

10) "And Man's a monster / He's a monster in his own time / He's a monster..." (Awesome spoken word over heavy rhythm. Neat poetry.)

11) "All those fishing boats with their sails afloat if I could only see / That familiar sunrise through sleepy eyes, how happy I'd be..." (Oh how I love to sing this one. Maybe someday if I get brave, I'll record myself doing this.)

12) "And so the time has come, it's here / The silence ends, change is near..." (Again with the awesome, rending scream.)

13) "It's the world on its knees / It's the heaven everyone seems to need / it's the Light / It's the focus that you cannot seem to find..." (This song has a total eargasm in it and it's right on that last line, true story. NO ONE will get this one. And I shouldn't even be posting it. [Slaps own wrist.] I vaguely suspect this is about Kurt Cobain.)

14) "And when you're feeling all down, the fairy will come around / so you'll be brave and not a sissy-coward." (Anyone who doesn't get this ... be gone. I don't know you. ;D )

15) "Come break me down / Bury me, bury me / I am finished with you / Look at my eyes / You're killing me, killing me / All I wanted was you..." (I mean, come on, how obvious. Everyone and their brother knows this song anymore. I purposely posted the chorus to see how many people will now have this song stuck in their head for the rest of the week. Enjoy that, now. ^_^ )

Okay, that was so lame. I only have fifteen songs that have actual lyrics in my computer anymore. I WANT MY OLD HARD DRIVE BACK.

Anyway, have fun.

I hear frogs outside, lots of them. Not tree frogs, which I hear in abundance in the spring and much of the summer, but regular, ribbit frogs. I haven't heard ribbit frogs in years, like ten or so. They sound so sweet out there.

I know last week I wrote the words "end of book two", but today I started to go over it and I have added a few more sections. So when I say "end" I usually mean "somewhere in the middle." ;)

I have a random crush on Jesse Spencer tonight. WTF is that about?

So hopefully today all of us can put aside the Bushes and Alitos in our thoughts and think instead about Martin Luther King and his message. A much nicer thing to focus on.

Anyway, some random things for me to remember when I look back on this post a year or more from now:

Yesterday, Haku fell into my half-frozen pond. He saw some water and I guess thought the rest of it was solid, and as soon as he stepped on it he broke though the ice. He didn't care, though. Up to his chest in freezing, swampish water, he just kept on drinking. Something must have died in there, because the smell was awful and I had to wash him off with a bunch of those dog wipes after I dragged him in by his collar. He can be such a moron sometimes.

On Saturday, Tristan said he liked my pimpin' coat, because it makes me look like a Ringwraith. Tristan is also a fan of the Dragonlance series. All of this demonstrates that Tristan is cool. A brownbelt in Kung Fu, and yet just geeky enough.

Today my Gran found a mourning dove that couldn't fly, and I went to get it. The dove looks like she's been chewed on pretty badly by a cat, and there's a festering hole in her crop. (All mourning doves are female in my mind. It's their own fault for looking the way they do.) Anyway, I took her in and am treating her, but I don't expect her to make it. At least she's warm and has food and water available. Though I'm not sure if she can actually eat. Crop injuries are the worst.

Also I went to Green Earth for some hair dye (I only use Herbatint or henna anymore. Neither are tested on animals and, as level three dyes go, herbatint is the gentlest and, in my experience, has the richest and longest lasting colors. It has peroxide but no ammonia.) I also scored some pure shea butter for a reasonable price. The lady at the counter asked me if I used it on my face, because she said I had a beautiful complexion. This made my day. Happily, it is the second time someone at this store has asked me what my secret was. What I should say is, "My secret is that you caught me on a mid-cycle day when I'm not in the middle of a breakout." But that would spoil it. ;)

I've been having a blast with Sifu on this one Kung Fu forum, where some students of other schools seemed to be calling us out. Sifu said to me, among other nice things, "You totally housed that guy." ^_^ I admitted to enjoying having written arguments because the written word comes naturally to me.

My passiflora plants are blooming like a biotch.

I have a TON of laundry to do today, and am in hopes that I can make up a bag of clothes to give away. If not this weekend, then I must try next weekend. I've got to start getting rid of things again. Once in a while I do that, shed the old stuff. Usually I give it to charities and stuff. And then, like a true consumer, I buy new stuff.

Speaking of being a bad, evil consumer, I very badly want this pedestal light but cannot afford it. I may do a damn fool thing and buy it anyway. You get far enough in debt, you start to think, What's another hundred dollars? Two hundred? I'll either pay it off or not. But look at it. You could put things on top of it even. Like a plant or something. Imagine? See here: A big one, on sale! But I like the other one better.

/shopaholic

Shoots, tomorrow is my least favorite work day. Oh well. I'd better get to watching this movie that Jenn W. lent me. It's Blow with Johnny Depp. I wanted to watch it last night but didn't have the time to. I don't like watching movies in the afternoon (something about that depresses me) but I've got to get the movie back to her tomorrow. Ah well. I lent her Quills in return. Biotch better have watched it.
