So, tonight was our last night at the old Kung Fu school, and Sihing Gold Dragon gave us quite a great workout in basics. Then in black belt, we did two-person stretches and forms, which went pretty well. (And might I add that everyone was really interested in my fingernails. Well, they are really cool and painted for Halloween, check it, )
They look pink but actually are orange, and the stripes are in sharpie.) Afterwards we decided that instead of going home, we would lend a hand and start getting all our gear and mats and as much as we could fit into our cars to the new school. So, Sihing Gold Dragon, High School Homeboy, The Empress and I all took up the mats and loaded them into HSHB's car. I took all the Muai Thai pads, the weights, some weapons etc. We took some of the huge bags and other gear and went down to the new school.

It's a hell of a lot bigger than the old one. There are some columns right in the damn middle but we have a huge stupid column where we were until tonight, too. This place is loads better. It's also a bit farther away from my house, but it's not ridiculously out of the way (err, like my new university.) I suppose I'm going to miss the old school since we were there for a few years and I quite liked looking out at the duck pond, but the new location is much more lively and we have a lot more of the building to ourselves. It's also right next to a fantastic Chinese restaurant; I foresee some f us going out for late dinners after class! ^_^ And also, we're having a grand opening next month, which should be really fun.

I took some pics of the old school after we tore up the mats (and Sifu had already taken down the mirrors last week,) and started packing our stuff up, and then I took some pics of the new place as it is all a huge mess which we will have to have sorted out by Monday. MONDAY.

Old and new: )

So that was tonight, and tomorrow I have to get up early for the financial aid thing and all that stuff. Hopefully I will have some friends over tomorrow night. Then it's Halloween and who knows what that will bring? :)

Before I go, I needed to share this little bit of political research.

Why are conservatives generally happier than liberals?

I found this at once very predictable and very eye-opening. Cut for length )

The curse of being a thinking and caring human being!

Good night all!

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] reanimated SENATOR BIDEN SMACKDOWN:

But in all seriousness, he's making excellent points and he's refuting the spins put on his words by Faux News, and I think that anyone who watches Faux News as their main news source should take a look at this, because it's clear how they are spinning everything he says, and here he is cleaning up the mess and setting things straight. I like it.

In other news, I scored big at Target today! I got some much-needed jeans, sweatpants, a really cute skirt, some pajama bottoms that are as warm and comfy as you can possibly imagine, and DREAMY fuzzy socks. I am such a comfort whore.

To appease the voice of Jared Leto in my head, I tried on some skinny jeans too. They made me look like a pencil. No thanks. >_<

Then I went to Blockbuster and picked up two movies, one recommended to me by SB and one that he didn't see but just told me about. He recommended The Prestige, which I will watch tomorrow. Tonight I watched Deception, with Ewan McGregor and Huge JackedMan, both of whom are hot but only one of whom is my husband (Ewan.) (Ewan and I have been together for almost thirteen years now and we are still going strong.) The movie was driven by "idiot plot" which basically means that none of it would have happened if the characters hadn't acted like idiots. The whole thing could have been prevented by telling the truth (there was nothing for Ewan's character to lose if he had taken any of the many chances to safely tell the cops what he knew.) Also, I called the plot "twist" from the very beginning because it was so damn obvious. HOWEVER. Ewan is my husband and I love him very much. How can a dude who is a year older than I am still be such a baby boy? He's got the "bashful little boy lost" thing down pat and probably will have even when he's 60. And Huge JackedMan is just like a jar of testosterone; he kinda makes you want to roll in him or something, it's crazy. Which is weird because his face is so pretty.

Yare yare! I am superfly excited for the RE4 movie! But, in real life? Yeah, Tuesday is my interview at the college and I have to write a paper, too. Then it's waiting on getting accepted or not. I completely admit that I am nervous about the whole thing.

Two more days left at our old Kung Fu school, and then we are moving to a bigger place up the road a piece. Bigger is better and all, but I'm so weird about firsts and lasts and I was kinda settled into this place and I liked looking out the window at the beautiful pond. Well, the new place will be super nice. Bigger, too.

Le sigh. I'm up way past my bed time, so I guess I will turn in and read a bit. (Oh, I'm re-reading the Dragonlance novels. The plots are still cliche and silly. Raistlin is still the most compelling aspect of the entire series.)

Good night!

....like, um, I dunno, like, I don't know if it's terrorism but, like, you don't wanna hurt, um, innocent Americans, you betcha.

You can see the video here.

Here's the actual transcript:

Brian Williams: Is an abortion clinic bomber a terrorist under this definition?

[The definition to which he is referring was in his comment immediately preceding the question, not in this clip: "Back to the notion of terrorists and terrorism, this word has come up in relation to Mr. Ayers—hanging out with terrorists—domestic terrorists. It is said that it gives it a vaguely post, uh, 9/11 hint, using that word, that we don't normally associate with domestic crimes. Are we changing the definition? Are the people who set fire to American cities during the '60's terrorists, under this definition?"—MM.]

Williams: Governor?

Sarah Palin: [sigh] There is no question that Bill Ayers, via his own admittance, was, um, one who sought to destroy our US Capitol and our Pentagon—that, that is a domestic terrorist. There's no question there. Now, others who would want to engage in harming innocent Americans or, um, facilities, that, uh—it would be unacceptable— I don't know if you're gonna use the word terrorist there, but it's unacceptable and, uh, it would not, um, be condoned, of course, on our watch, but— I don't know if what you're asking is, is if I regret referring to Bill Ayers as an unrepentant domestic terrorist…? I don't regret characterizing him as that.

Brian Williams: I'm just asking what other categories you would put in there. Abortion clinic bombers, protesters in cities where fires were started, Molotov cocktails were thrown… People died.

Sarah Palin: I would put in that category of Bill Ayers anyone else who would seek to campaign to destroy our United States Capitol and our Pentagon and would seek to destroy innocent Americans.

Sent by a friend of mine, John Cleese on American politics, Fox "news" channel, Sarah Palin, and why Obama has to win:

What I love about this is that he speaks it without censor, without fear of American backlash, without prejudice, and as someone who has lived with his eyes wide open all his life. All the Monty Python guys were always very aware like this and it's something in his knowing delivery that makes it all make perfect sense. He makes you want to facepalm and go, "YES! Thank you for saying it exactly like that!"

Also, happy birthday to me! I'm going to go start my pie now!

From young women, a message to Sarah Palin: Please don't take away our rights.

Sarah Palin's beliefs could become YOUR future. Please try to pass this on as much as possible. Try to hit up some people who may not know about these issues; you could sway a few undecided voters!

ETA: And another thing. Palin breaks with McCain on gay marriage amendment.

NEW YORK – Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says she supports a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, a break with John McCain who has said he believes states should be left to define what marriage is.

In an interview with Christian Broadcasting Network, the Alaska governor said she had voted in 1998 for a state amendment banning same sex marriage and hoped to see a federal ban on such unions.

"I have voted along with the vast majority of Alaskans who had the opportunity to vote to amend our Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman. I wish on a federal level that's where we would go. I don't support gay marriage," Palin said. She said she believed traditional marriage is the foundation for strong families.

Blah blah blah Obama has too much money, wahh, wahh, it's not fair, but this was the part that stood out to me:

And McCain challenged Wallace’s assertion that Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin had become “a drag” on the GOP ticket.

“As a cold political calculation, I could not be more pleased,” McCain said, calling Palin “a direct counterpoint to the liberal feminist agenda for America” and asserting “she’s the best thing that could have happened to my campaign and to America.”

The liberal feminists with their filthy agenda, those bitches! Wanting, like, rights and stuff! What a disgusting agenda! How very dare we?

Obama was very careful not to say "premarital sex" because then Palin might say he was attacking her, LOL. Even though he pals around with terrorists and he didn't stick up for McCain when someone said a bad thing about him...even though he pals around with terrorists because it's okay if McCain and Palin run a negative campaign, even though they're not running a negative campaign (TERRORIST!) because the American people don't want a negative campaign, it's just too bad that Obama pals around with terrorists.

Oh, and protect the fetuses! Because let's not teach Palin's kids not to engage in unprotected sex cavalier activities; let's let them be rednecks and make tons of protected fetuses and get married, because they are a girl and a boy instead of a boy and a boy or a girl and a girl, (which I suspect would be really cavalier.)

Nope, McCain wouldn't NOT put someone on the Supreme Court because they supported Roe V. Wade, he goes solely by whether or not they are qualified (*coughcoughbut no one who supports Roe V. Wade is qualified*coughcough*)

I want to have cavalier activities with Ewan McGregor. Just saying.

I ♥ Obama; I actually didn't know he was all fair-tradey and now I do, and I am just watching McCain roll his eyes and scoff and go down in flames.

^_^

"Cavalier activities." ♥ Obama.
