To clarify though, many of the companies' names listed on there are what the donors put down as their employers--so, not necessarily did their employers support Prop 8.
There's a big flap in the theatre industry over the fact that Scott Eckern's name popped up on that list as a donor. He WAS the Artistic Director of the California Musical Theatre, but--surprise, surprise--when the big homos and fag-lovers who LIKE MUSICAL THEATRE and, you know, patronize the shit out of the CMT found out that Eckern donated in support of Prop 8, they called for his resignation and he did wind up stepping down a couple days ago. (Honestly, what kind of fucked-up brainless idiot wouldn't expect that running a musical theatre company and fighting gay-rights do not remotely jive?)
So, don't boycott the company without checking to find out their position relative to that of their employees.
I'm not in agreement with this. "Blacklisting" is something that liberals have been fighting against for decades (going all the way back to the McCarthy hearings and all the Hollywood types who suddenly found themselves out of work because they knew someone who knew someone who was a "communist sympathizer"). Today it's fighting the insanity of the "no-fly list" and "voter caging".
Don't get me wrong, boycotts are effective. But they should target companies, not individuals.
