You know, over the last two years, I started replenishing my library (I had to leave all my books in the old country when I moved, blah, blah) and now have about 300 books at a combined cost of over $2000. Would have been more had I purchased all of them from Barnes and Noble and Amazon where Rose buys stuff. My point is, if she started going to Half-Priced Books and skipped the Starbucks Lattes and all the sparkly kitsch, she would have been able to save up at least the $2500 she needs.
It's true that when one is sick and such, one needs something to make one happy (every time I feel a bad migraine a-coming or get over one, I trounce off to a bookstore) but she is just going insane and irrational. And her husband's just feeding the spending obsession instead of having an honest talk with her.
