Don't feel bad about telling the manager.

The guy may just have an innocent crush, but he's expressing it in ways that are subversively threatening (coming up behind you, invading your space) and overtly pushy (instructing you to do things--give me your number, let's go out--rather than asking). You are a solo female in a captive situation, meaning you are at work and can't easily just leave, and he's being a creepy fuckbag about that. I am glad that you know kung fu, in case he does something fucked up like stalk you in the parking lot or whatev, in which case i hope you break his kneecaps first and ask questions later.

(Can you tell this kind of thing really pushes my buttons?)

BTW, congrats on that great review from the editor concrit folks a couple days ago! I don't think i had a chance to say it at the time due to the conference i was away at.
