What is making me nervous today: Knowing that Trisky's senior checkup / dental / operation is next
Tuesday.

I had Rob check out this new lipoma that popped up on Trisky in the last few days, because I always panic and think things aren't lipomas that really are. It really is just that. However, it is close to her joint and should come off. Also, he checked her over, listened to her heart, and everything is status quo (*knock wood.*) Tomorrow her bloodwork comes back, and if that is all good, then next tuesday's operation is a go. After next Tuesday, she won't be running and bounding around for a while, but I like to think that she's good for another 100,000 miles. I get nervous around this time every year because I know her senior profile is coming up and that's so stressful, as if it's the only time of the year that something can happen, and if it doesn't happen then, I'm good for the rest of the year. I tend to think of things like that, as if I can schedule disaster. Really anything can happen at any time. But I always feel so much better once the profile is over (it is such a LONG and detailed process, but seriously worth getting it done every year if you really care enough about your furred, scaled and feathered family members.) I always feel like a good and competent pack leader when I'm getting all my dogs checked up. After Trisky, it's Sano's turn.

But just finding out that this lump is just another plainold lump, it's such a load off my mind. My heart told me that's what it was, but hearing it from a vet is always the best thing. :)

Also of the good: My good friend who was in the hospital for a bone marrow transplant came home today and is doing really well (*knock on wood again*). Now she's got a 4 week quarantine (for the most part) and after that, looks like she'll be in the clear. It's been a very long and stressful road. I'll be so glad when I hear the news that she is 100% cancer free. ^_^

Those are the important things.

Sunday we had our BBQ, or what I like to call the Last Hurrah. It was: my parents, Gran, aunt, uncle, three cousins and my cousin's husband. Truly my favorite group of people. Chrissie and Timmy asked me to stand godmother to their baby when s/he gets here, and asked Spencer to stand godfather. O_o I peed my pants in total joy. Meghan seemed a little reticent. I told her, "It's like you'll have a god-sibling. Except without the 'god' part. Or really the 'sibling' part, either." She said, "So really, a cousin. YES!" ^_^ She has got to know, she's my Jo-chan and my first goddaughter and nothing will ever, EVER change that.

I had the dogs out the entire day; I just left the screen door open and let them come and go as they pleased. They were actually very good, and Sano was really comfortable in this crowd. I was proud of him. Meghan got the same camera that I have, only a slightly newer model, and we goofed around with our cameras all night, taking pictures of everything under the sun. We took pictures of our own eyes up close... Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting ( Do you see how bloodshot my eye is? Allergies are REALLY bad this year!) At one point, Meghan showed a picture of her own eye to our Gran, and Gran said, "It's a beautifu eye!" To which Meg and I started singing, "It's a beautiful eye! It's a perfect denial!" to the tune of "A beautiful lie."

Another time--this was after Betsy had made pina coladas for us--Haku was doing something behind the shed and I said, "What is that dog doing? Whatever it is, I probably don't approve." My Mom said, "I think he's going to the bathroom...." And then, she meant to say that she thought he was chasing a chipmunk, but instead she said, "He's not going to the bathroom. He's eating a hamster." So for the rest of the night, that was the joke that kept coming back, that Haku was off eating hamsters.

It was too cold to go swimming, but it was still sunny for the most part, and still smelled like summer.

And now it's pouring rain and really cold. But that's all right: I think I'm ready.

Oh, and the season premier of House is on tonight. Yes, I am ready for Autumn. ^_^
