I don't know a thing about Hula (aside from the fact that you obviously not only know it, but respect it), nor about the culture, but given my tastes in music, this seems a good choice. From what I've read in your LJ about him, he has respect for the culture and tradition, but doesn't want either one to stay rooted in the past -- just because past traditions carry such weight doesn't mean that people in the present can't add something worthy to them.
(I can't help wondering how Moon Kauakahi and Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu would get along, though! Just as some people cringe when I tell them that I mix metal and classical, I'd guess Mark makes people nervous too.)
