Yeah so I totally renamed my "dreams" tag "head movies." ILU Tropic Thunder. Just got finished watching that with my Mom and Jo-chan, who is here for a few days between college/home commute. Which, AWEsome. I now pick her up every Thursday after Kung Fu in its new time/location. MegaYAY. So we raced and bred Chocobos and then watched TT while eating stupid amounts of ice cream. It's so dope when she can stay for a few days.

Oh, the new KF time/place etc., so yeah. It took me for-freaking-ever to find the actual school. I drove past it, wandered around for a half an hour, it's so ridiculous. I don't know how I feel yet. It's a new group dynamic. People who should be there aren't. It's hard to concentrate. The dude who leads blackbelt favors screaming-loud death metal music as a backdrop to working out, as he rants about how much he loves to hurt people. It's some serious Cobra Kai stuff and even though he's joking around, it kind of scatters my qi or some asomatous nonsense like that. I know the guy, have known him for a while and I trust him and all – he's a training brother. And most importantly, he actually did a great job of teaching me. I think my stances and applications were pretty good last night. But I did have some seriously vivid head movies about some of the stuff he was describing.

In general there was a bad vibe all around in the school, too, because Sehing Matt Damon's dog just died yesterday. She disappeared from his house the day before and he found her dead on the side of the road. Everyone who knows Sehing knows he's crazy about his dogs and this one was really special to him. I've known Sehing for many years and he's seen a lot of stuff in his day, but I've never known him so heartbroken. This hung like a cloud over the entire school.

Saw Gold Dragon briefly too, which is always a super bright spot no matter how dismal everything else is.

Jo-chan's school is right up the road from the Kung Fu academy and her class gets out a tad before mine, so it's superfly easy to swing on up there on my way home.

Today was my first day of Clinic II and also the day Hurricane Earl hit. Clinic II was good, better than I expected. Hurricane Earl was lame. It was just some rain and a breeze. It's already over and it's still hot and muggy. It did leave us with a really beautiful, wet night though. The tree frogs are all about it.

I was peeing my pants over Clinic II because we have to write a pathology paper in order to graduate, which we have to base on a pathology patient. This patient has to make a commitment to come and get treated by you at least twelve times, two different modalities – six of one, half a dozen of the other. I thought I'd never find my path patient in time, but then, wonder of wonders, it was like the universe handed him over to me. And he's super nice. Guess what he is? A retired physics teacher, hello! Is that a sign, or what! Leander, my protagonist, a physics teacher! I'll sure take it as a sign! :) Anyway, I had to talk him into being my patient because he doesn't generally like the Asian treatment, says it has never done him any good and he relies on massage for pain relief. He says no one's hands are good enough. But he was really nice about it. Just someone who's in a lot of pain and knows what works. Halfway through the treatment, he was convinced. Then, he told me that it was the best treatment he'd ever gotten; his pain was gone by the end of it and he'd gladly be my pathology patient and let me try different modalities. He said, "You have the best hands of anyone here, and I've been coming here for years."

I was ecstatic, and of course, I hope that isn't just a fluke. I want to be good at what I do. Writing, Hula, Kung Fu, massage – I just wish to be the best I can be. And sometimes I wish to be better than other people at it. :) Well, that's good motivation to try.

Work tomorrow. And I think Jo-chan is leaving too. :( But now I get to see her every week, so, ROCK.

And that's all there is for today.
