Haku had a seizure at 6 this morning. It was a really long run without any. :/ Have to see what the new pattern is going to be before I think about changing anything.

Okay what the hell, my LJ hits have jumped over 200% over the weekend. O_O Hey there. Sorry my blog is boring. ;D

This morning on my way to school I was all bummed about Haku again and could think of little else. My iPod needs charging, so I had the radio on. I have mentioned before that Dinah Washington was my Dad's manager and every time I hear a song by her on the radio (which, pretty rare,) I take it as a sign from my Dad. So today I randomly stopped scanning and heard her singing a song I didn't recognize. The lyrics felt about right though, so I googled them.

Build your dreams to the stars above
But when you need someone to love
Don't go to strangers, darling, come to me

Play with fire till your fingers burn
And when there's no place for you to turn
Don't go to strangers, darling, come to me

I felt a little better after that.

Haku is himself, as he usually is after a seizure. I guess what I have to do now is wait it out to see if a pattern emerges. And then if it gets bad again, I suppose I'll have to think about switching meds. It's so weird; just last week someone came into where I work and was telling me she had an epileptic dog who had done well on phenobarb for eight months, before starting to have seizures again. She said they raised the dose, and then it started to affect the liver values. So they had switched to a drug called "Kappa" I think she said. (I wrote it down, but will have to check again.) She said it worked, but warned me it was expensive. I'm not considering changing yet, but if this keeps up, I guess I'll have to.

There was a huge thunderstorm on my way to school today. Epic rain, bolts of lightning splitting the sky. It only lasted for about ten minutes. Now the sun is shining again and the air is still heavy. But it smells really nice out there.

This book I'm loving takes place after humans have evacuated Earth. Stories like that (such as Please Save My Earth among many others) always make me feel nostalgic for a place that I actually still live on. It's such a good planet; how dreary it would be to have to leave. To leave voluntarily, for a little while, sure, I'd jump at the chance. I'd definitely go into space on a vacation. ;D But with the flowers blooming and the smell of rain yadda yadda dicker blah, I wish I could bottle these thick summer nights.

In saner news, I can't wait to go see Inception. I wanna see it with My Wonderful Glassworker Friend because I think it's the sort of movie we'd both be into. People whose opinions I value greatly have been raving about it – not the least of which is William Gibson. Other writers I admire have said it blew their minds, too.

Though, I have to figure out a day when my Mom can mind Haku while I'm gone.

Today I promised myself that after school I would finish up the two critiques I owe to the email group, and then chill out for the rest of the night. It's Monday and I'm supposed to be in Kung Fu, but I did myself a mischief, one that's making its way up. It seems to start in my right foot, with what I think is the beginning of plantar fasciitis. It's got all the hallmarks and is definitely worse on mornings after I run, or work out in my treadless KF shoes. Then my knee got all twisty and unstable. After that, I pulled every adductor I own. Then my lower back started to ache and now my upper back hurts. I need to re-balance. Ideally I'd go to my fave chiro, but -time +-money = -opportunity.

So I'm skipping my afternoon run, and Kung Fu, and I have my foot on a bag of ice every day till it goes numb. It actually does feel a little better in the mornings after I do that. I must remember to get some anti-inflammatories too. Bromelain, is what my teacher recommends.

Anyone who doesn't wanna read Lord Of Light after I've raved about it so much, I'm gonna punch your lights out. No just kidding, but I do think that lots of people I know would be into it, too.

So I guess I'd better get critiquing. :)
