Dad always said to Mom and I that when he was gone, he didn't want any crying or mourning or anything. He said to have a memorial, play his music, and laugh about the good times. Well, that's clearly a lot to ask. But he always loved to share his music--and people who don't have any of his CD's have been asking me to post some music--and that's what he wanted, so I am posting a few of his songs.
A really old 45 of Boulevard of Broken Dreams. This is the best version I've heard of this song ever.
Lonely Autumn.
Manatoba Moon. I was working on choreographing a Hula to this one over the summer.
Heavenly Melody - this was another one I was going to choreograph and do it at our next show, as a surprise.
You Mean All The World To Me This is one that he sang to me throughout my childhood. It was his song to me.
My Way, with my Dad's band “Mercury,” this one is from the 80's. It was always my Dad's favorite, and a kind of theme song for him. It's the best vocal version I've ever heard of this song; I don't just say that 'cause it's my Dad either.
And the iconic Trouble. You might know this with Presley doing it. Actually though, my Dad wrote it. Who knows what might have happened if he'd ever asked for credit or royalties? But anyway, this is my Dad's life-song, and also mine.
One more. When I was little I complained to my parents that there were so many Christmas songs, but not a single one for my favorite holiday, Halloween. So my Mom and Dad together wrote the lyrics to Night Of The Goblins, my Dad wrote the music. So clearly I remember being in the recording studio in the 80's as they recorded this one until the small hours of morning. The howling ghost noises you hear all throughout this is me blowing into an empty coke bottle.
My Dad also wrote and sang many songs for my Mom, but I don't have recordings of most of those. I just picked the ones I always liked the best.
To anyone who listened to this very small selection (my Dad has tons of songs,) thank you.
