Springtime LOOling and some new trees
Apr. 20th, 2008 11:26 pmWe won't discuss Friday, but this weekend has been hilarious and fantastic. When I got home from work, SB, Jo-chan and SB's girlfriend were at my house playing the Wii. We had dinner and then sadly SB and his girlfriend had to leave. But it's so good to see him even if it is for a short time. He's thinking of transferring to a college closer to home, too, one that will be better for him. He's going to succeed in anything he does anyway, so. ^_^
Yesterday we accompanied Chris and Tim and Boychild to the vets (my job, as they've recently switched vets and are with the hospital where I work now,) for a checkup for their new puppy Bosco. While Chris and Tim were in the appointment Jo-chan, Mom and I took Boychild on a tour of the hospital and showed him all the dogs, cats, birds, and random animals like snakes and baby possums, as well as Beatrice the chicken. He was fascinated by all of this. Afterwards Jo-chan and I went to Wild By Nature and spent way too much money. Then at home we ate way too much food. After dinner we watched Sweeney Todd, because Jo-Chan is 15 now and I thought it wise to begin the blood and guts and violence while she's still young. We ate brownies and ice cream, and she loved the movie.
Funny quote from last night: I asked Jo-chan if she'd ever seen "Heathers." She replied, "Heather's what?"
I LOLed.
Then last night was my friend Casse's birthday and I called her up and we chatted for over an hour. Man, I miss her so hard; I can't wait till she comes home. Hooo boy, we had lots to discuss.
Today we went out for trees. Mom, Gran, Jo-chan and I went to Home Depot because I decided that I needed more cherry trees. (I'm reading The Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon lately, and it's reawakened that old love for Heian Japan. I guess it never really left me.) Anyway, so on the way there we listened to the old broadway versions of Sweeney Todd songs. Jo-chan is really into them. Came with two cherry trees, one flowering and one with fruit, (I got them really cheap!) and a ton of plants that Gran had bought. I named the bigger cherry tree Sei and the smaller one Quinn.
Jo-chan was playing Brawl and I asked her to come outside and help me dig the holes for the trees. "Let's hole!" I said, handing her a shovel. We were listening to TBS as we planted them, a process which took over an hour. During which Jo-chan made me LOOL again. While listening to TBS we got to the part where he says, "Everything I know about breaking hearts I learned from you, it's true. I've never done it with the style and grace you have, but I made long term plans...."
Jo-chan thought he said, "I've never done it with the style and grace you have, but I make love to plants."
Chrissie brought Boychild over and we all hung around in the sun for a while chatting. Had pizza for dinner and then Mom, Jo-chan and I went out for cookie dough and ice cream. Back at Mom and Dad'ss we baked cookies and watched Kung Pow. This is one of the best movies ever, partly due to its ability to make my Ma laugh so hard that she damn near falls off the sofa.
And tomorrow I have to make a phone call.
