How much I hate movie editing programs
Aug. 26th, 2007 06:48 pmSo, having had the battery for the really good camera die during filming that first day (august 11th) I got stuck filming about 3/4 of the video on my crappy little Sony. Now I have to cameras, and two editors. Cameras are the crappy Sony and the good Sony. MovieMaker is compatible with vids from the crappy Sony but not the good Sony, and Vegas is compatible with vids from the good SOny but not the crappy one. And codecs don't work with Vegas unless you spend $200 extra on them, and no, they do not give you a break just because their software blows.
So. In order to edit this one section, I have to either convert all of my videos onto either MM or Vegas. SO I figured I'd convert them all to Vegas (oddly enough, if you save the non-Vegas-compatible ones using MM, they magically become compatible with Vegas. True story.) So I decide to bite the bullet and save every single crappy Sony video, we're talking tons of footage, as one extra-long Vegas-compatible file that I can chop up as needed. So I work on it for about an hour. Muting, editing out stuff I don't need to make it neater, etc. I'm about halfway through.
MOVIEMAKER CRASHES, DOES NOT SAVE A THING.
Now just sit back and try to imagine how furious I am right now.
