OMGBABY! ANd yesterday's party
Aug. 20th, 2007 01:38 pmYesterday was kind of hard because it was Spencer's going away to college party. I had always planned on making him a CD of specific songs (or at least one specific song) before he left. I mean, I'd planned it since he started high school. And then all of a sudden he was going away and I realized last night that I hadn't even begun it.
Uncle Don, Betsy, SB, Jo-chan, and SB's girlfriend and best friend were all here, as well as my cousin Chrissie and her husband Tim who live across the street. It was chilly yesterday so no one got to swim, and then it started to rain so we all ended up going to my parents' and a bunch of us played Guitar Hero. These are the kinds of things I'll remember fifty years from now, you know? Chrissie and Tim brought over the latest in a string of baby pictures and files from Korea (for those of you who don't know, they have been trying to have a baby for ten years. Then, trying to adopt for the last two years.) Each week lately there had been more pictures and more files, and none of them got matched with them. It was beyond frustrating for the whole family and heartbreaking for Chris and Tim each time it happened.
But something felt right about the picture of this particular baby and even though no one wanted to say, "THIS IS THE ONE" it kind of pretty much seemed like it was, for whatever reason. There were a lot of signs pointing to it also, like his birthday being the day after my Mom's and fitting in with the mid-winter birthday cluster, the fact that he shares an unusual name with a friend of mine (HI MIN!) and he just sort of felt right.
Chrissie got the good news about an hour ago and I just got back from her house. FINALLY! Chrissie and Tim have a son! I'm going to be a godmother again, SB is going to be a godfather, and Jo-chan will have a god-sibling. (By "godparents" etc no one means in the traditional Xtian sense. There will be no church ceremony. We were joking about taking him to the bay or something. ^_^ ) I think he will be my goddess-son like Jo is my goddess-daughter. ^_~
He won't be here for another few months but still, at least we know! A baby in the family! Chrissie and Tim deserve this more than anyone in the world. It's weird how it happened, SB's going away party and then the very next day, the announcement of another boy coming into the family. Isn't that so weird?
I dare this week to get any better!
