Birds and other summer things
Jul. 9th, 2006 05:01 pmSo, not an entirely uneventful last few days, but nothing out of the ordinary, either. Work on Friday (slow, dull, but no complaints,) and in the last half hour I got four more birds. Two were robins (one was already dying and actually died on the way home,) a starling with really badly splayed legs (I will probably have to put him to sleep) and an atixic, neurological baby bluejay that I made the mistake of falling completely in love with immediately. He was dead Saturday morning. The one robin is still with me (knock on wood.)
Saturday in Hula we did the Wedding Song and it's coming along nicely, I think. Next I have to look at an 'otea to put together. I must not forget to do this! And in Kung Fu we did staff. LOVE. I hated staff when we first did it, but it's growing on me.
Then I just basically cleaned the house all day, put Mark the grackle in the cage in the aviary, switched a bunch of cages, whatnot.
In the evening, Spencer called and we talked for about 45 minutes. He called to talk about POTC2 (which I haven't seen yet and will wait until the fervor dies down a little, and when I can see it with Kim,) but we ended up on all kinds of subjects, and most importantly his college choices. He is going to study psychiatry. That means that Spencer is going to be a doctor. It's not like I ever doubted Spencer, but seriously, think about that for a second: Spencer is going to med school. He is going to be a doctor.
And today, Laura came and picked up her birds, as well as my 6 sparrows and one cowbird. Now my kitchen is looking relatively spacious once again. That's 4 cages down in two days. W00t. Then I went for a swim. I'm grabbing as much swimming time as I can, because we're talking about record lows out here. This morning I think it was like 65 degrees or something. Totally unacceptable. But then, this afternoon it was about 83 and humid. I need it to be a bit hotter and a bit MORE humid, actually. This doesn't quite feel like summer yet.
I hope we'll have fine, gorgeous weather a week from today, though. There's a birthday pool party for Lao Shir at one of the training sister's house. She has asked me to dance at it. I can't wait! The whole thing promises to be one of those memorably awesome times. ^_^
