I have a freaking ton of phone calls to make (all right, three,) and that blows, because I hate talking on the phone. Blast.

I am almost done writing up the novels notes for Pat and Casse for when they come to the house. I also came to the realization last night that it's going to be all kinds of hard for me to walk out of the house Friday afternoon, knowing I'm getting on the plane to Florida, and leave Pendragon alone. I know that Pat and Casse will be there only two or three hours later, but that will still freak me out. I'll want to run back and check. I'm usually leaving a quiet, chilly, empty house, and returning to it. Now, I will be leaving my house full of life and light. And returning probably to the smell of cigarette smoke. UGH! Pat smokes, and while she would never smoke in the house, that smell clings to clothes. And thus, clings to furniture that clothes were on. But that will fade, I'm sure.

So we're expecting this huge blizzard, and it looks like Meghan won't be over this weekend. That blows, because it's always exciting when the kids come to visit the week before Disney. Or, well, Spencer wouldn't have come (we never see him anymore,) but still. Jeremy called to say he probably can't make it either, because he will be out plowing the roads (that's part of his job.) He asked if he could come next week instead. Uhh, DUH. ;D

Monday, apart from whatever other last minute shopping I have to do, I need to try to get a copy of my housekey made. This is all so hectic, maybe the most hectic trip preparation ever.

And I got another bluejay tonight, too. If Laura can't take him while I'm gone (she usually birdsits all my birds, but this year she can only take two,) then I don't know what will become of him. He'll probably just die, because I'll have to leave him at work. And that would be sad. I hope he gets better before I leave.

In other news, I finished Stephen King's new novel, Cell. I'm not sure why a lot of reviewers are calling it a departure from his usual fare, because to me, it was classic SK. It wasn't one of my favorites. It wall all right--an interesting idea and well-paced--but I didn't care about his characters as much as I usually do. And he seems a little hung up on young boys doing brave deeds and handling them better than adults. It's the Jake Syndrome, I think. Although there will only ever be one Jake Chambers. But either way, I tore through it because I wanted to see what happened and because, like most of his novels, it's fast, interesting reading. However, at the end, it's another fill in the blank. SK seems to have this new thing about holding the ending over the audience's head, and then getting defensive if they weren't satisfied by it. He gets a little, "TCH! Make your own endings! Or can't you even think for yourself?!" Uhm, yeah, but you're the writer, you know? It's not my job to finish your story; that's what I paid you for.

But whatever, it was an enjoyable book, and I will always admire SK. He can pace a story like nobody's business, and I wish I had that skill.

Now I'm back on my quantum physics books. Those are a very nice read, and leave me feeling very elated and sort of nervous about my own writing for some reason. Someday I'll have to overthink that feeling and get to the bottom of it. I can only read a chapter or so a night, because it makes my head spin.

Well anyway, so tomorrow is Hula and then Kung Fu. Then I guess I'll just chill at home and clean, get a lot of things done if I can (if I can ge tthe ambition, that is,) and wait out this awful, house-burying blizzard that we're going to get. Yeah, right!
