Tonight I hung around after Kung Fu class to ask Sifu a question. (He mentioned something about rotating teachers, and Sehing Tristan either taking on another day [every other Friday] which I misinterpreted as his giving up Saturdays and was all NOOOOOO! But he will still be on all Saturdays, which is to the good.) Anyway, we ended up in a really long conversation about loads of other things, from Kung Fu in general, gender roles in fighting, the Bible of all things, lifestyles, issues--you know, the really deep and heavy stuff. Somewhere along the line I mentioned that one of the things aside from Kung Fu that had changed my life drastically was Hula. Sifu was totally surprised, as he had no idea that I was a Hula dancer. I told him I had been for years, and I loved it, but my biggest desire was to teach. Do you all see what's coming?

Sifu said I should teach Hula at Green Cloud! Can you imagine? He said I should give a Hula class there, as a "Hula workout," which of course, Hula is a workout, but people who don't know Hula wouldn't understand that at first. He offered me a job, you know, a paying job teaching Hula!

Of course, this is--as it always is--dependign on interest. If no one local wants to learn Hula, then obviously I can't hold the class. That's what happened last time with the Southold Rec center. There just wasn't any interest. But maybe this time there will be. Sifu said that a lot of the moms who bring their kids to Kung Fu might be interested in something like Hula. He thought it was a good idea because it's so different, something that most people would think they'd have to travel into the city to learn, and if they found out they could learn somethign so unusual so close to hime, it might have a chance.

I'm so excited I could pee my pants. Teaching Hula there would be most awesome--I already feel so at home there and it's not all too far from where I live. Closer than work, actually.

So, again, this all is riding on whether or not there is any interest in it. So please cross your fingers! This would be such a dream come true. Also I have this feeling that, if it worked out, other good things might come of it.

I can hardly imagine!
