Back before Katrina hit, there was some talk that it was going to skirt major cities or not be as severe as they thought at first, and a few people were thinking, Thank god, because it would be a disaster if the levees broke. I remember thinking, "When the levee breaks, Mama you got to move," and thinking how unlikely it seemed that it could actually happen in real life.

Tonight on the radio, some butthole of a DJ played the Led Zeppelin song "When The Levee Breaks."

In case anyone lives under a rock and has never heard this song, some of the lyrics are as follows:

Cryin’ won’t help you, prayin’ won’t do you no good,
Now, cryin’ won’t help you, prayin’ won’t do you no good,
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move.
All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
Thinkin’ ’bout my baby and my happy home...

FTR, that's one of my favorite LZ songs, at least on my top ten list. Also FTR, back after 9-11 when there was talk of ClearChannel banning certain songs from being played because there was a small chance that they might bring the tragedy to the minds of a few people who really, really stretched the interpretations of the lyrics, I was outraged. I would have also been outraged if they had banned a song that said, "Hey, 9-11 was great!" Because I am so not for the banning. I can disagree with something and think it's an assly thing to say, but I do not wish songs banned.

But I retain my right to think that this was an assly thing to do. I halfway expected the DJ to make some kind of smartass comment that DJ's so love to make because it showcases how loutish they are, because that's supposed to be cool or funny in some way, but all he said was "Led Zeppelin, When The Levee Breaks. Now for the weather!" Which somehow seemed worse, because, loutish, insensitive and stupid as some of these DJs can be, no one is that clueless.

>_>

Meantime, waiting for Bush to find a way of blaming this on Al Qaeda.
