Which 'Whose Line is it Anyway?' actor are you!?
brought to you by Quizilla

This is funny because you may remember me mentioneding my friend Jenn J (formerly Jenn B) a few times, and how we have this tendency to take one stupid joke and beat it until it's dead and bloody improv with it for a while. (She's the one of "Cork Grandfather" fame from a few months ago.) Yesterday, she and I were sitting on the steps at work talking about, I don't know, men? Relationships? Something. I don't even remember what point I was trying to make, but it had something to do with what people want or how to tell what they want or something, and I couldn't think of the words, and all I could finally come up with was, "Some of them want to use you." ANd inevitably I added, "some of them want to get used by you." ANd so on, even until the "HAHAAAAAA Oooooh wooooh AHHHH-AHHHHH!' only I said these things conversationally instead of singing them. ANd without missing a beat, Jenn came out with, "You know, that was really deep. That's maybe the best advice anyone's ever given me. I don't think I'll ever forget it." I told her, "I know, I can be profound like that. Someday when you're really old, you'll remember your friend from work who told you, HAHAAAAAA Oooooh wooooh AHHHH-AHHHHH! ALthough, to be honest, I didn't make that up." Jenn said, "Yes, but you made it your own. You know, you should copyright that before someone steals it from you. One day you're going to see it on a bumper sticker or something and you're going to be really mad!" Well, this went on for a good ten minutes. Eventually I said to her, "You know, we should to on Whose Line Is It Anyway." Jenn said, "My god, I said that not thirty seconds ago!" I said, "You did? I didn't hear you." She said, "Well, I said it in my head, not to you." Then I asked her, if we were on that show, who would we be? She said, "I'd definitely be Colin Mochrie, because I'm weird and awkward." I said, "That's so cool! I'd definitely be Ryan Stiles, because I'm gangly and snarky." Well, then we decided that we'd call each other Colin and Ryan, just co confuse people, but I think we forgot about that afterwards. Anyway, so that blog quiz was funny.

So today I woke up from nightmares about my grandfather, and immediately remembered that today was the day he died, six years ago. I felt it was wrong to be having nightmares about him. Instead I wanted to remember him in a good way, so I decided that I would plant some flowers for him today. Grampa was a landscaper, groundskeeper and gardener most of his life, so this always seems appropriate to me. Sometimes if I'm not sure what to do with a plant, I'll ask Grampa, and often I'll have some sudden intuition or inspiration, and it usually works. So, after Kung Fu, I came home and planted poppies and columbine for him.

Kung Fu was fantastic today, even though Lao Shir wasn't there. Instead it was an assisstant teacher, CJ. Today we did butterfly kicks and jump crescent kicks, along with a review of steel-step side kicks. Man, do I love doing kicks, I think that's my favorite thing. The butterfly kicks made me feel all off balance and like I was going to fall and break my ankle. I still don't exactly have the hang of how to land with anything resembling grace, but I'm glad that I can still get off the ground in the first place. And it was gratifying when the assisstant teacher told one of the students who has been there a year longer than I have to watch how I was doing the crescent kick and do it that way. But that kid Chris was there today, as he is nearly every day, and it's full-on incredible to watch him do these kicks. It's like gravity just isn't interested in him. When he jumps, he stays up there for a second. It's quite something to see in person. And he's only been there about nine months, too. He just blew past everyone in the class who have been there for years trying to perfect this stuff. Nine months and he's already a green belt; it's amazing, and entirely deserved. He's only 18, too. A few people sort of good-naturedly grumble to him, "You make the rest of us look bad," but I don't think that's necessarily so. He just has a gift; not only can you not compete with that, but you shouldn't, because that's not what it's about. After class I told him, "Chris, you're a joy to watch. You're such an inspiration." He totally blushed and looked away, but like a gentleman said, "Thank you so much." He's a lovely young man, and I have no doubt that he's going to be a wonderful adult.

Oh, and then for a while at the end of class we played bandanas, which I had never heard of before, but basically it's a Kung Fu style of a sort of "capture the flag" type game. You wear your bandana on your belt and have to avoid having it snatched by the others, by using Kung Fu blocks and trying to incorporate the style of movement as much as you can, and all the while you have to try to steal everyone else's bandana. Man, it was fun to play a game like that again, I don't think I have since I was in my twenties.

So, after class I went to Green Earth to buy some Neem oil, because I'm really having a problem with whitefly on my plants. The bastards just keep coming back. Before I use it, I have to make sure it's okay for iguanas. It says it's fine for domestic animals, birds, and even beneficial bugs, so if it doesn't hurt large bugs I'm sure it won't hurt Pendragon, but I'd like to be absolutely positive. It smells really nasty.

And then I planted my flowers for my Grampa, and then I finished up my silly music video I was working on. After dinner, I fell into a marathon phone conversation with Jenn J, and after later on had a relatively long phone conversation with Kim.

What a day! But in a good way, though.
