Feb. 23rd, 2005 08:35 amIt annoys me that I now have to lock most of my Hula related posts, and posts that mention names of anyone I know who might be sharing something with me or teaching something. :/
Anyway, today was pretty freaking great. First thing in the morning, we all went to breakfast at the Contemporary food center (cheap buffet, good variety.) Directly after, Spencer and I went parasailing. Parasailing is breathtaking. We went 450 feet up (the lowest height, because the higher you go, the more it costs,) for about ten minutes. I pretended I was a bird, actually. I know that's cheesy and all, but I had to. My aunt Betsy (Spencer's stepmom,) took pictures from the boat.
Spencer thought it was the coolest thing after Dueling Dragons. I'll tell you what's so weird. Knowing this young person who has his own tastes and interests and mana'o, all of which are very interesting, and who now does things like play music in a band, go parasailing, pull straight A's and read books on quantum physics, and realizing that I bottle fed him, pushed him in a stroller, changed his diaper, put him in a highchair, carried him around, and all of this. He's almost an adult now. It really creeps me out.
But Spencer and Meghan both, they're these totally interesting and engaging young people with their own thoughts and likes and dislikes, you know? Meghan's such a strange bird, she loves bunnies and kitties and pink and cartoons, but she's hardcore underneath--she hates shallowness and phoniness and she thinks most girls her age are stupid and vapid. She's 12 and a half, and she already knows that she doesn't want to be a typical squealing teenager. She's got all this going on.
Anyway, as I mentioned in the previous locked post, tonight we go to 'Ohana room to eat and spend some time with Kaleo. That's always a fun night. Then after that, everyone else is going to the Village, but Meghan and I are going to go nightswimming. (I always think it's so funny how I've always had to call it "nightswimming," like it's one word. Chrissie and Celia and I have always called it that. I mean, clearly it's nighttime and we want to go swimming, but yet we always said, "we're going nightswimming.") But we're only nightswimming until 8:30! That gives me a half an hour to shower and then catch House MD. God, you think I'd miss that just cause I'm on vacation? HA! ;)
Tomorrow is the last day. Meg, Betsy and I are going to spend some time at the Poly pool, and I don't know what everyone else is doing. And after that, I have no idea. Thursday four of us fly back, four drive. Thursday afternoon I'll be home, where it's 20 degrees. But I'll go pick up Trisky, Sano and Pendragon, and then everything will get back to normal.
I must not forget to go to Kung Fu Friday.
Oh, how could I forget? I, Epcot's China Pavillion, I found the most awesome dress for Oceans of Ho(pe). It's way too big and the clasps on the back need to be redone, but I think I can manage to fix it up. We'll see. :)
