Just setting down to watch Bottle Rocket bcause Owen Wilson is still Flavor Of The Month around here.
I decorated indoors for Halloween today and though it was frustrating figuring out what to put where (and I swear I'm getting tired of the same old stuff year after year, even though I do have some new stuff, god, can't I ever be satisfied?) I'm happy with the way it looks, all spooky and sort of pretty, too. I have these tiny purple lights that look sort of fey and dim on my trees in the sunroom, and I replaced the lightbulb in the lamp in there with the kind that flickers. And you don't all really need to know every detail.
While I was decorating, I was listening to the FFVII soundtrack, the first three discs of it. I realized that what I've seen of Advent Children so far has a completely different feel from FFVII itself. FFVII had a dryness to it, and a sort of whimsical majesty that is missing in what little I've seen of AC. And it had that bizarre humor, too, this un-selfconscious spirit that I loved. I've said that I will watch the crap out of AC and will probably cry when I see it, but that doesn't mean I can't observe that it seems very self indulgent, with the prettification of the canon characters and added bishiness of the new baddies. I will be upset, also, if they turn Cloud into a Pretty Angst Machine. He so wasn't.
Speaking of self indulgent stories and me crying over them, DT7 so far: ( Cut for major spoilers. I'm serious. Don't read it. )
And, that's that.
Well, onto the movie. And work tomorrow.
I wonder what that will bring? Work is weird lately. But part of that is from me and my own confusion.
