I hear ya. That's annoying to me, too, the "a love so canon" thing. I don't mind slash--hell, I'm all about self-gratification. You like to see two fictional hot men get it on? Cool. I like to see fictional hot men fight and run through the woods and make snarky comments to each other. No harm, no foul. Slash isn't my favorite thing, but I have run into one or two good slash stories (they're so rare,) and one or two really, really, really hot slash picures. (See some stuff by ChocoZell... ^_^;; )
It does bug me when the fangirls insist that something is canon that clearly isn't. It's like they don't know what the word "canon" means. Canon would be if Remus and Sirius were gay, or in love, in the book. There are no references to that anywhere. And I also don't buy the crap about JKR having to censor herself. Even if she had this mad S/R love affair hidden away in her mind (not likely, it seems to me,) it's still not canon, because it doesn't happen in the book, and she doesn't say it's true anywhere else.
Krycek/Mulder UST? Canon; Chris Carter said so. PSME yaoi? More canon than canon.
It's really the misuse of the word "canon" that bugs me. :/
