la_belle_laideDude, I don't even know what happened. It's like, I was putting off writing again and I was doodling Sahrek (I swear, I'm getting to be one of those people who draws her characters rather than, you know, writing the story in which they belong,) and I found this neat photo reference that I thought was interesting, and I did this little sketch that I just refered to in my brain as "Sahrek and some poor dumb bastard." (Linked rather than posted so's not to take up lj space as I'm about to post another pic.)
Then I colored it and ruined it. I liked Sahrek in it but I felt it was lacking something so I considered just chucking it in the garbage, then I reconsidered and just stuffed it into my folder.
Then I picked it up again later in the night (this was all last night,) and, I don't know! It was like, Nine Inch Nails came on or something and I just erased the poor bastard's face and all of a sudden it was all, the poor dumb bastard was neither poor nor dumb, but still a bastard only a very specific one and, well...
...if my characters had fans then this would be both bait and service (though not quality service.)
You can see that I just about trashed the original pic; it's all wrinkled and smudged because I was just going to forget about it and I shoved it aside. Also, clearly I'm still having trouble with hands and facial proportions and, well, proportions in general. And Hisoka is considerable taller than Sahrek, but I couldn't quite work that out. Broader, too. But now we're getting into my (lack of) mad drawing skillz and somehow I feel that's not the point. ;D
I mean, you know, anyone who's even ever glanced at Raptor Crest has noticed a kind of unresolved tension in it, and while I've always thought of it more as two alpha males snarling at each other rather than two alpha males dying to do each other, I have made them sort of try to knock each other down with innuendos and stuff. So, there was that.
