Random thoughts
So hopefully today all of us can put aside the Bushes and Alitos in our thoughts and think instead about Martin Luther King and his message. A much nicer thing to focus on.
Anyway, some random things for me to remember when I look back on this post a year or more from now:
Yesterday, Haku fell into my half-frozen pond. He saw some water and I guess thought the rest of it was solid, and as soon as he stepped on it he broke though the ice. He didn't care, though. Up to his chest in freezing, swampish water, he just kept on drinking. Something must have died in there, because the smell was awful and I had to wash him off with a bunch of those dog wipes after I dragged him in by his collar. He can be such a moron sometimes.
On Saturday, Tristan said he liked my pimpin' coat, because it makes me look like a Ringwraith. Tristan is also a fan of the Dragonlance series. All of this demonstrates that Tristan is cool. A brownbelt in Kung Fu, and yet just geeky enough.
Today my Gran found a mourning dove that couldn't fly, and I went to get it. The dove looks like she's been chewed on pretty badly by a cat, and there's a festering hole in her crop. (All mourning doves are female in my mind. It's their own fault for looking the way they do.) Anyway, I took her in and am treating her, but I don't expect her to make it. At least she's warm and has food and water available. Though I'm not sure if she can actually eat. Crop injuries are the worst.
Also I went to Green Earth for some hair dye (I only use Herbatint or henna anymore. Neither are tested on animals and, as level three dyes go, herbatint is the gentlest and, in my experience, has the richest and longest lasting colors. It has peroxide but no ammonia.) I also scored some pure shea butter for a reasonable price. The lady at the counter asked me if I used it on my face, because she said I had a beautiful complexion. This made my day. Happily, it is the second time someone at this store has asked me what my secret was. What I should say is, "My secret is that you caught me on a mid-cycle day when I'm not in the middle of a breakout." But that would spoil it. ;)
I've been having a blast with Sifu on this one Kung Fu forum, where some students of other schools seemed to be calling us out. Sifu said to me, among other nice things, "You totally housed that guy." ^_^ I admitted to enjoying having written arguments because the written word comes naturally to me.
My passiflora plants are blooming like a biotch.
I have a TON of laundry to do today, and am in hopes that I can make up a bag of clothes to give away. If not this weekend, then I must try next weekend. I've got to start getting rid of things again. Once in a while I do that, shed the old stuff. Usually I give it to charities and stuff. And then, like a true consumer, I buy new stuff.
Speaking of being a bad, evil consumer, I very badly want this pedestal light but cannot afford it. I may do a damn fool thing and buy it anyway. You get far enough in debt, you start to think, What's another hundred dollars? Two hundred? I'll either pay it off or not. But look at it. You could put things on top of it even. Like a plant or something. Imagine? See here: A big one, on sale! But I like the other one better.

Shoots, tomorrow is my least favorite work day. Oh well. I'd better get to watching this movie that Jenn W. lent me. It's Blow with Johnny Depp. I wanted to watch it last night but didn't have the time to. I don't like watching movies in the afternoon (something about that depresses me) but I've got to get the movie back to her tomorrow. Ah well. I lent her Quills in return. Biotch better have watched it.
