Leave a list of fictional characters in your journal that you would love to get a message from. Your f- and f-of-list's mission, should they choose to accept it, is to write you an in-character message from a character on that list. Then they post their own list in their journal and the process continues!

(I changed "letter" to "message" because no one will want to write an entire letter.)

Just a quick note from old Jack. Could I ask you a favor? Y'see, I've got a few of the guv'ner's men on my tail, and I wondered if you could take care of 'em for me? That's my girl. You've got a mean kick, as I remember. Oh, and ignore whatever they tell you about a nunnery and a stolen leg of lamb.
Oh, and a bit o' advice - if I were you, I'd just go up to that man you've got your sweet little eye on and give him a big kiss. Men love that, least I would. Savvy? If he doesn't return yer interest, kidnap 'im and make him yer first mate! Always works for me.
