I never saw the passion of the Christ because I had a bad feeling about hearing Mel Gibson being in the reigns of the project. What made it worse was hearing about the violence included. Realistic it may be, I doubt the suffering needs to be put into such graphic detail that our own vicious imaginations can't fill in the gaps and all that. On top of that, it kind takes the attention away from the 'lesson of the story', you could say and instead focuses on the blood... if I've heard right. There's a Buddhist train of thought that goes along the lines of: "Whether it happened or not matters little, but what the value the reader(experiencer?) finds for themselves."

And as for the gay marriage ordeal. If there's a way to say that one can respectfully disagree with it, then I'm all ears. It's hard trying to remain true to one's convictions while at the same time feeling sympathetic for people of the opposing viewpoint, know what I mean?
